After reading this thread, I'm so glad I paid extra when I got my new bed to have it treated so that the little critters couldn't live in it

Hi m8
Have had these before in a hotel as there was infestations in the West Highlands 5 years ago.
They don't actually live in the bed but in the frame, behind wallpaper seams, in furniture joints, carpets seams, skirting board seams etc etc.
You will have to get professional help. Probably best to throw out all furniture in the room and sorry to tell you but any room alongside, above below etc as the travel through the wallspaces. If you get the place fumigated its the only way to be sure.
Cost us thousands as we had 20 rooms affected.
Sorry
Alasdair

and before anyone asks the infestation only lasted for that one season and places were clear after that.

Red face

right an up-date as i'm sure your all desperate to know whats going on!

one of the most discusting things in my life, slept on the bed after washing the bedding and hoovering all around it stupidly thinking it'd do the job, wrong! couldnt get to sleep as i was itching so much, thinking it was psyhcological, decided to go downstairs for a bit, turned the light on to see about 15 of the b@stards on my bed/pillow!!! makes me cringe just tinking about it!

they are tough little *******! thats for sure, found where a fair few of em were hiding, in the holes pre drilled for the bed frame screws.

bought some fleas/insect spray which is safe on soft fabris, sprayed the whole room and the bed frame etc, ironed the mattress (as sugested, i'm not going mad!)

been sleeping on the setee the last few nights and normally if i leave the room in the dark i can see them dotted around when i go in, havent seen any twice in a row now so fingers crossed!

found one and gave it a direct spray, took 3 squirts to kill it! so dunno how effective the spray will be!

must attack their nervous system or something as it just sort of arched its back and went 'funny'!

are you itching yet...?

little b@stards, whats the point of em!?!

oh and to make matters worse i havent been able to invite my lady friends around for some lovin' , so everyones losing out here!

I know of a hotel that had this problem in one of it's rooms (brought in by a guest!!!). If action not taken quickly they can spread rapidly. This particualr hotle ended up having to get rentokil in to treat 5 ajoining rooms to comopletely eradicate the problem.

Apparently, they can hide behind skirting boards, electric sockets, etc. They can also travel from room to room via floor boards, gaps in stud walls, electric wiring, etc.

If you have a material bed base you prob need to dump that aswell as your mattress. Empty the room after having all remaining furniture treated, then get the bedroom treated - worth checking ajoining bedrooms if any.

Had any 'dirty' ladies staying?

Seriously though, these could have been brought in by someone else or from another bed if you'd stayed in a hotel, etc - perhaps even on holiday!!

Who cares if it's free or not!!! That would drive me bonkers.

Just think, they are feeding off you, ****ting in your bed and you are sleeping in it do you like sleeping in ****?

Get someone in to clean it up!

well i've been the one making the excuses! dont particuarly want them to know about this one, bit mingin' !

took me ages to realise the problem in my own bed so doubt they'll know!

another thing i was thinking was about the stuff thats imprinted in our brains from birth, as soon as i saw one of these bugs i just 'knew' is was a parasite and needed getting rid'. always facinates me how this sort of information can be passed on through the genes...

If the treatment can include the bed & it's guaranteed to work then it might be okay. Personally, I'm not sure if I'd want to risk it or sleep ina bed that had been treated with pesticide. Would reckon at a minimum that the mattress would be best disposed of (probably burnt)

I'm no expert on this subject though - sorry

Get some spiders in. Surely they will 'teach' the buggers a lesson on survival?

Spiders, we got plenty of them!

just looked up the number for the councils pest control. as i thought, chelmsford is one of the only countys that charges!!

£38!!!

though i'd pay ten times that to get rid of em for good!

right, definately getting the professionals in.

turns out that spray seems to have no effect on the f3ckers!

managed to spray one and keep it in view, seemed to put it off its game for a while but then snap out of it and it was fine! sprayed it about 5 times in a row and he was still going strong!

yeah seen ST, quality film! Denise Richards is hot!!

did make me think how resiliant (sp?) some creatures are, esp compared to humans..

had the stuff on my hands for a few mins and could feel it starting to sting, this little guy 5mm across was near enough doing backstrokes through it! thought he was gonna get his Lylo out and a cold beverage!
