At the end of the day you will only get market price for your car whatever it is and how much you love it .and if you mod it too much noboddy will want it .In my opinon the P1 was an over priced and over rated .Both the Evo & Scoob are great cars i would have either ,as for (drivers car) it must be the Subaru for the simple fact that it doesent have the eletronic aids that the Evo has.

Well (not)surprisingly I've had half-a-dozen or so PM's from potential purchasers

but,in my books surely my car has got to be worth nearer £23k private,or not

STi 2005 54 plate £16050

STi 2005 05 plate £16850

And Dealer retail price for the latter is £18500 - ish

These prices were taken from the September Glass' Guide.

I'm not bothered who is selling what for what, but if the GG says thats the price, then all a dealer or your insurance company (if you write it off) has to give you is what it says in the book.

Get on Autotrader, the only people asking 23k for an 05 STi are main dealers. Ordinary dealers are selling 54 plate 05 cars at £19995 and that's before you try and have a deal with them. The market is on it's ****, I need a car by the 8th October and I've been watching for about ten weeks and I'm glad I waited because the prices have plumeted. Ten weeks back I'd have been lucky to get a bug-eye STi for £15k now they're struggling to make £10.5k.

I'm after a white STi which I'm told are pretty rare, I rang Montys in Sheffield last week and their salesman said they'd underwritten a white 2005 54 plate STi and it would be £21,995 if they got it. The car actually turned up in Autotrader at a garage in Loughborough at £19950. When I rang they'd sold it but I had a good chat with the salesman and he said they'd have been willing to sell the car for £18995. The car had DCCD and 5000 miles on the clock and at £18995 they'd still be having a good do out of it.

From what I've seen Subaru dealerships are greedy and only people with too much money are paying their highly inflated prices.

I have to agree with Elmer on this one. If you check most Main Dealers they're all asking similar prices as stated above.

I just recently bought a brand new 05 sti (with PPP) for less than what some dealers are trying to sell used ones (without PPP) at - but then I had to travel further than I normally would to get that price

I was looking at that and the owner of the garaged decided he wanted it. Expect it to appear back on sale in a few months as he does this with all supercars

I have been looking at getting an STI either with ppp or not and a main dealer near me wants 16k for a 03 bug eyed ppp which seems a little steep
