It depends on your power goals. John Banks has been running his latest std pistoned EJ257 at around 450bhp for what must be around 20,000 miles by now........ no problems.
In the states they are running way over 500bhp on the std bottom end.

I don't dispute that forged pistons are stronger but the change point for me would be over 400bhp.

Cheers, last newbie question here... what are the gains in terms of expected bhp & torque from a simple swapover? from the current 2.0

probably not much horsepower i'm told but a lot of torque and tractibility (sp?). mapped with a TD05 350+ xtreme told me...

I can see my house builders money for the 'extras' going out the window here.

Seriously interested but would definitely prefer forged pistons.

That's why I would sooner have the forged pistons An extra couple of hundred quid spent now could save a lot of expence and work at a later date. The standard EJ257 bottom end would be an excellent upgrade for anyone looking for 350bhp and 350 lbsft without spending huge amounts of money.

Works out at £845 not to sure on duty and shipping but i bet it'll work out to more than £200 on top of that price.

I personally would be happier buying from Xtreme at 900+ vat if we can get the numbers.

remember that they are only in Essex and so goods should be available for collection to any southerners, and should anything go wrong at all they are in the country and at the end of the telephone line at UK hours, I know a chap who got quite burned buying an IHI VF22 from the states, looked a tidy enough discount on paper, now its sat on my workbench as a washer holder.

It's not a case of trying to tempt Xtreme i have spoken to them and they are happy to arrange the group buy as long as the number are high enough for it to be practicable.

AFAIK the £1057 includes shipping+duty and VAT there will then be and extra charge for delivery to your house etc form Whitham in Essex.

Thats a godo price.

YOu can buy the block from US for about £800 but like said above, by the time you add import, vat and shipping it will be around Xtremes price.

I expect Xtreme are sorting the group buy at near cost. Reason you ask why, because they only need a few people from the group buy who will need the 2.5 fitting and they can make their money that way.

Fair play to Xtreme, good see a company offering cracking discounts for members!

I will take one, would prefer with uprated internals but depends on how much extra it works out at. Would like a definate price for block + delivery before I commit tho.

I think it would be a good idea to get a group buy price at the same time on the gasket set as well as we will all be needing that.

dont give it another week!
no need, you wont get a whole lot better and nobody wants this to drag out for no good reason.

they are a UK company so the most delivery from Essex should be is about £40 (palletways shipped a short block to me for £36 overnight and UPS did the same to a mate of mine for £30!)

no waiting!!

We still need 20 dont we?

It may take a week to get that many, but I dont think there will be a lack of takers.
