Not a WRX driver any longer I'm afraid, this is my latest weapon of choice

I would add that my 315bhp wrx didn't **** all over a clio cup so I'd expect a PPP WRX to be struggling somewhat except when launching. I expect that the actual power to weight ratio for both cars is quite similar? On the other hand, I only ever had my **** handed to me on a plate twice, once by some crazy brabus merc and once by a skyline - both times I felt like I was going backwards That aside, the scoob managed to keep pace with quite a few exotic cars which I thought would have been a lot quicker

Unfortunately a few plebs think a 245bhp scooby will wizz all over a 172 bhp cup, us educated few know that it won't

BHP / TONNE @ the wheels is a good way to guess likely on raod performance. But drivers can be a world apart, and some people care less than others irrespective of your driving ability.

Still i prefer to be the under dog snapping at the heels though

Agreed, I'll never take unecessary risks on the road just to prove a point, some of the overtaking manoeuvres people have tried on me have been nothing short of death defying. Rather have numpties like that in front of me rather than behind

What has that got to do with it? Obviously a well launched WRX will beat me off the line but up and going im pushing them up the road and passing them :-)

Yep, that's the cut and dry of it.

Amazingly capable cars, but "fast" in its strictest sense?? Not on your nelly.

13.9 in a standard blobeye is bloody quick, did you launch it at 9K revs

Not from the stats ive read in several publications. The clio is slower. Renaults own figures also state this.

They are both fast so who fookin cares which one is a tiny wee bit faster. People who say ' I blew a wrx or STI off the road in my clio ' or the other way round makes me laugh. Ive seen several videos, which you can download for yourself, some website.....'shand' something or other. On there you can see standard WRX's catching EVO's and STI's but everyone knows the EVO and STI is faster but its purely down to the drivers abilities. You also see a golf and a CTR passing EVO's etc. Its more down to the drivers ability than the car, as long as the cars are reasonably similar in performance of course, which the clio and wrx are.

I wont end by saying' END OF' as its a bit childish.

Yep. Just checked again to make sure and the new 182 cup takes 6.9 secs to reach 60mph. The 172 will be even slower i would imagine. Couldnt find 0-100 figures on Renaults own website but ive seen them before in EVO mag and were very similar to WRX if not slower ill check again tonight.

Anyone who still feels that their clio will tear a scoob a new ars e hole please feel free to visit the renault webite yourself.

Still the clio is a nice car and pretty much identical to WRX for pace but one with PPP would easily see the clio off, doesnt matter what you clio owners think or claim to have seen.

Always 0-?!?! WRX is probably a second or so quicker to 60 but to 100 they are probably pretty similar (seen them vary for the 172 Cup from high 16`s to high 17`s std) so the scoob would be off the line quicker but then the Clio would make it up by 100.

Did you go to the same school as Darryl???

WRX faster to 60 but slower to 100.

Do I have to spell it out?!?!?

OK - I shall, that means the WRX is "very" slower from, well, atleast 60-100 than the Clio. Probably more like about 30-100 in reality.

There is very little in it I know but please, please just say "ok - I accept that".

O.K Ill come clean!

I did have a Graham Goode Backbox, but other then that it was standard, all 3 cats where still in place, standard td04 turbo etc. Cant see it making a differance.

aah yes, manufacturer figures... these are not always accurate though are they, Reno tend to play their figures down or use cars that have not been run in to probably lower insurance groupings... real world times from real people in real cars are more important. Chris and Neils Cup's are both running 14.1 SQM's... doesn't take a genius to work out where the 4x4 comes into play and where the little Clio pulls it back... most people on our club are running in the 14's and lot are almost standard and some are boggo standard lol

Sorry to rain on your parade but ive just checked EVO magazine and the WRX is 15.7 secs to 100 and the clio cup takes 17.7 to 100. That is their own test results so im sure they are more accurate than some punter witha stopwatch. Dont take my word for it check yourself. The EVO mag im reading is the one with the veyron on the front so not just my opinion its fact. Even renault claim the clio cup is slower than a WRX, in fact renault claim it slower than EVO so the magazines results could be classed as optimistic.

So no more nonsense please about clio's beating STI ppp's let alone WRX's.

Still fast though but dont make stuff up.

You are wrong mate sorry.

Slower to 60 and even slower still to 100. You produce 1 document or publication that states otherwise as i have.

Think you are not going to know which of these two cars is more capable until they are put where performance cars should be, on the track. None of this motorway, duel carriageway, drag strip, mines faster on paper nonsense this really can only be settled on the track. And I really think that the Cup would near as damn it be neck and neck with the WRX.
