i would say to drive the clio is a lot more involving as you dont have the 4wd doing it for you ,,i drive a fwd car now and compared to my old scooby its very much more involving ,the scooby was just numb ,it didnt handle well and it relied totally on grip to curb its understeer,my front driving zs is is another street ,it feels alive and it communicates to you all thats happening .
You had me convinced right up to the point where you said you bought a ZS. Don't like to be rude about other people's pride and joy so I won't.
I'm sure you overtook lots of people, a good driver then but with poor taste in cars.

fair enough ,your opinion..... but i didnt get rid of my scooby and replace it with my mg for nothing ,the only plus a classic scoob has over a zs is that its faster in a straight line and when you've spent a lot of time on track you soon realize straight line speed is pretty far down the list for lap times compared to handling ,brakes, tyres etc.You take 2 similar cars, one with sorted chassis brakes etc but standard bhp and another one with 50 more bhp but standard otherwise, the car with the sorted chassis etc will lap faster than the car with more bhp .

I think we already knew that. How often do you take it on track V road use is the question I'd be asking all these track day driving heroes. If it's a significant amount of time I'd suggest a dedicated cheapo track toy would beat most road cars hands down.
I find it amusing when people go on about track days as if they are relevant to real world motoring.
My downer on the MG isn't based on its handling which is reckoned to be pretty damn good. Just that it's such an ancient design made by a company that's gone down the tubes. Your luck might be in though, values of the ZS are so low now the insurance company might just write it off.

ive not the ***** for track driving or the cash. i have to resort to the traffic light shoot out(in safe places only, beleive me) dont do racing around bends and so on as i said im afanny in that respect. but dial in some revs and get catapulted offf the line little will beat scoobs, 911 carrera 4 found out that.

thanks for the sympathy,no way its a write off though, and if by some amazing turnaround they did decide to write it off due to some previously unseen problem i would buy it back and rebuild it myself.
My car only goes on track 4-5 times a year so its not a dedicated track machine ,its still a family car and it does everything on road it does on track, most of my track time has been spent in karts.

Its just a small French hatch, which goes very well, it has no heritage or any character about it that makes it stand out.

Its doesn’t set off any excitement in me…and Yes, ive driven one

If you haven’t got the extra ££ to buy a scoob, then buy the Clio (or whatever girls hot hatch)and be happy that it kicks ***

Sorry, as a long term ownership proposition, the scoob is just a much more interesting vehicle, despite its failings.

If you really wanted an interesting drive, you’d buy a RWD car.

You bought the right car for you, which fitted in with whatever you wanted to spend, like most of us.

Despite its performance, its still a small hatch, thrash, enjoy, move on.

A few folk have mentioned that track days are one of the deciding factors for the selection of their car. So why choose front wheel drive. I would rather have RWD any day for a bit of fun on a track. FWD is ok for road cars but not nearly as exciting as RWD or IMO AWD. I chose AWD as i dont intend taking my car on the track but i need it for the weather and road conditions i drive in but if i was luck enough to be able to afford a second track car it would certainly have RWD. If i wanted to track but had to use my everyday car then FWD would never be an option. Just my opinion so keep your hair on.

You really do have a problem m8..!

If you're not aware of the famous SN "I'd have had it in the twisties.." excuse or worse, actually believe it then that says it all really.

You have had the support of some very experienced scooby owners on this thead, however you seem to be a lost cause.

I suggest you do your research on somone before you start... I'm actually a very happy 05 (modded) wrx owner you fcukwit..!

Someone tell me how to host video (I can do stills via photobucket) and I've got a copy of the Octavia v 05 WRX wagon (standard) plus another modded Octavia v same scoob on same runway with same result..!

PS on neither of them is the scoob launched in any way in anger..!

There was a time when I believed this as well. I guess there was a time in all our lives we thought a scooby was the best car on the planet but all we could afford was a Pulsar.

I do not own either car but know what makes a drivers car.......Poor brakes, lacklustre performance, flawed steering to name a few will only make these cars appeal to the type of people that consider noise, bonnet vents and unnecessary spoilers the way forward.

Every reply to the contrary simply reinforces everything I (we) have said.

PPS You can see the twin pea shooters if you don't believe it's standard (and it's a wagon)

The reanultsport clios are excellent track cars out of the box, of that there can be no doudt. Impreza's are not at home on the track as standard. Over our typical rubbish roads the difference is none existant.

Who thought has a standard WRX..? Not many and certainly not me..!

My only problem is having to read your weak comebacks you lame ***. You and several others had allready written the scoob off against the skoda and proceeded to spout **** about how funny it would be when the usual WRX excuses started. Did they start???? No. WHY??? Because you were wrong exposing you as the **** that you obviously are. Following the vid being posted all the scoob owners were very gracious about the skoda owner and were quite complimentary. You however couldnt wait and jumped on the usual WRX is slow bandwagon as you dont have a mind of your own. Whats even funnier is you were actually slagging off people who own and drive the same car as you putting yourself in the same category. You idiot. My original post to you was actually in jest and a light hearted poke at you but your response has shown you up for what you really are.

In an MG ZS ,or something else? Dedicated track car perhaps? If not allow me to venture the opinion that you must be insane. I read on here you do a bit of driving at the 'ring, have you never considered just buying a car there, preparing it for the track and just leaving it there if you go there regularly.
If I went more that 4 or 5 times a year that's exactly what I'd do.

Perhaps you could help me a little. Where will I find a car better than a Euro Import STI for 23k that is a better all round package?

"Poor brakes, lacklustre performance, flawed steering" are exactly what I'm experiencing having moved AWAY from a Scooby, albeit modded, but they do lend themselves to being modded.
