Searching for the perfect Chassis
Sorry to hear about your brake problems, I have brake problems every meeting, I always leave pressing the pedal too late and nearly crash
.
I appreciate your support at the meeting I knew I could count on you!
How did you find driving with the telephone cable? I'm very unsure about the whole arrangement, but cannot get away from the huge advantage it provides on launches.
You should come up to currborough all 3 of us will be out trying to remember how to drive, no doubt in the p**sing rain, I think it's safe to say were all in for a shock as we have all been driving diesels since October!

Someone has suggested a more elegant way to connect the coil cable, so might try that afterthe brakes are sorted. It looks worse than it is, and actually coils up quite well.
Just these flippin' brakes.
What a dismal winter's tweeking!
Graham.

Finally found out the problem with the brakes with the help of John F.
The brand new bias valve is knackered!
Fluid goint to the valve and zippo coming out...
Time to buy a quality item and not tat.

We have progress! the first change to my car since 8th of october last year finally got my wheels, Comopomotive CXR's in 17x7 ET45, they are seriously light weight and i'm well happy with how they look. Hopefuly I can try and get some more done to the car now before 18/3 first event! Glad you fixed your brake problem Graham.

No I never thought to, i did pick the first box up and nearly throw it through the ceiling though expecting it to be heavy like my MO's, they are by far the lightest wheel I have ever picked up, not very scientific I know but you get the idea
Yeah myself, Pete and my Dad will be going, It will be the first outing for my Dad's new motor so it should be a good spectacle, and it's the 18th not the 15th like I said above obviously
.

If I practised every day I would not get close to your times!
You make it look so easy - I love your smooth driving style, and it is great to watch your car under braking approaching Fallow Corner!
But, new year, new season so should be good to knock a few 10ths off.
I ditched my Eibach springs, as I still have standard STi struts fitted, and the car was sitting far to high (almost 4 fingers width between top of rear tyres and bottom of wheel arch - if you get my drift).
Had H&Rs fitted on Friday and am very pleased with result, although only had one run down the Rabbit Run of Friday evening.
Down to API on Friday 23rd to have rear bumper replaced and a couple of gauges fitted.
I cannot make the Practice Weekend - but may see if I can stick my nose in to see what is going on.
Entry in for April A/B meeting, when hopefully, car (and driver) will be fit
Richard
Thought it a bit high looking at the pics of your RA recently.
I wish i was ready with mine, but Trish is getting the new brake bias valve today, so it should be running for the MoT next weekend.
Rob:
Dying to see your Dad in the Quattro, all that bhp, all that slick grip and the big grin too!
Rumour is Roy is going Classic! (as in pre 1970)
I don't believe that, but he has been talking about it for 2 years now.
It is going to be a hard year with all the young guns and flyweight cars everywhere...

Nah!
Roy wants a nice Elan, or a Morry Minor or something, not an EVO 9 (or a X?)
He should get a Scooby and find out how hard it really is to go fast enough!
Brakes tonight now I have a real bias valve from AP (sooo expensive though, but you can feel the quality.

Actually have some brakes at last!
The good and the BAD. AP bias valve (on the left) pure quality!

And in situe:

Another bleed off tomorrow night if Trish survives the cold she has.
A million thanks to John F for the help and advice.

Who woke you up?!
I'm not clever enough to adjust from inside the car!
Once the pressures are balanced then that is it.
If i change the pads for a different make then i can tweek the pressure, but I'm not that sensitive!
£132 means a small birthday pressie now, if that even....
Modding cars is such a treat.
Are you ready for the 'off'?

The good news is I'm now a High Weald Tenant and collect the keys to my luxurious lock-up tomorrow
I'm hoping that the garage is long enough to put some shelving up and clear the garden shed. I'll need to get some added security before I move the car and tools. The local constabulary have offered to keep a close eye on it
I'd like to take the car to API to get the leaks sorted and fit the baffled sump I've bought.

Lack of enthusiasm, flat battery tonight and that kind of stuff.
Would like a nice 911 and go cruising each weekend to a nice hotel and a good bottle of wine.
I'll be better come Sunday!
Lost the plot with the car.

I know what you mean with losing the enthusiasm!
Thought long and hard before I took the engine rebuild plunge last year.
Adding up the bills - I could have bought a lovely C43 Mercedes from a friend.
But that would not have been as much fun as giving the Impreza the full moo up Cedar Straight.
Can I come and spectate on the Practice Weekend?
Richard

Sure, just bring your membership card though, and if quizzed you are my engine consultant!
I'm booked in for both days.
The Harrimans are ALL there, the big V8 Quattro etc, so will be great.

Rob, after piston failure and head gasket issues I have gone for:
440 injectors, polished headers, STi Version 3 intercooler and some decent rods/pistons.
Replaced clutch with Exedy one while car was at API.
Next jobs (probably this winter time):
Better turbo (currently running standard WRX one).
FMIC (air con removed to permit prep work).
Suspension (Coilovers?).
Gear box - current one will do for 2007 but is getting to the end of its life
Car was excellent in 2006 and was competitive - even though running like a bag of bolts
Its a sort of evolution thing with my STi...................

Actually drove it round the estate a few times for the first time in 5 months and a lot of blood/sweat/n/tears.
Those diffs sure creak (
) and the front end is much more 'pointed'
Gave it a few prods in 2nd...forgot just how fast this car is (I normally drive a Jag X Type deisel..) and the Type R ratios don't seem to short yet.
The coiled cable to the diff switch on the wheel will have to go, it drives you mad dangling about, so that will be quickly re-routed over the next few days.
Just not too sure where.
A slight smile back on my face, but the MoT tomorrow, and I'm dubious about the brakes, though it seems to stop as well as a stock braked Impreza with about 380 bhp on a cold day does
sums it up.

It passed the Mot, but only just, the sport cat does only just make it....
Brakes are fine too.
The drive home down the local country lanes in the wet was interesting.
Those diffs sure do give great traction even on my fab list 1A tyres for £80 the set of four.
The ratios of the Type R I feel are really good for sprinting and the engine tears its way through them.
Hope the motorways will be ok.
Next are the slicks soon and we are ready for the first event in 3 weeks time where all hell will let loose (
)
Going to be a steep learning curve ie near vertical graph line.
