Clubs we've tried to buy off. I agree they are wanting too much for players, look at anelka, they paid around £4.5million for him in january and now want, if memory serves about £12 million for him. Some profit there.

Is a striker going to solve all of Toon's problems though? Better to "build from the back" to stop conceding goals first

The defence will find it a hell of a lot easier if we can actually do some attacking in a game.

^ Agreed, IMO our defence is probably the best we've had in a long while. Need to get attacking more to take some of the strain away from the back 4. 3rd bottom in the league isn't good enough, even at this early stage of the season. If we don't get some reinforcments in soon it's gonna be a long hard season. On a very slight plus, at least we're higher up the league than the mackems.

Damn right, its a fuuny thing to say that Newcastle has a half decent defence and nothing up front

There is nothing creative and no out let without a decent set of strikers to feed. At the minute the midfield is full of holding players and no play makers.

SORT IT OUT TOON

saw the first half of last nights game and thought they were'nt too bad though not great, unluck not to have scored with speed clearing off the line though shola was a waste of space, it no wondder that we can't score when we've no wingers to provide any thing its a joke really, and a bad one at that

sack the board and souness

It looks like Luque's gonna get his debut tomorrow. Hope he'll bring the creativity that we've been sorely missing. Fingers crossed.

Oh and matching socks 2 days running, I'll get talked about being this co-ordinated.

Been away all weekend at a wedding so gave my ticket away.
Dragged the groom to a pub on sunday to watch the game but one of the lads who was with us drove back to Newcastle to go to the match then drove back up again

Not surprised at the result but at least we managed to match Man U fairly well

Some of those players have got to start to perform soon though otherwise Newcastle will be in proper serious trouble!

Looks like Jenas will be signing for Spurs today, does not surprise me.
He's been playing to get away for sometime now

Anyway good luck to the young 'un and may he become a regular England player.

Good business getting the money for Jenas.

He's never lived up to his 1st season with us. Been at best, average since then.

Tons of potential, most of it unfulfilled.

Good luck to him tho.

Andy.

Can't believe so many people are writing off Souness so quickly.

Emre & Parker look like SUPERB buys.

Bit early to comment on Luque but I think he'll be class too (made Rio Ferdinand look an idiot on Sunday when he flicked the ball over his head)

As for Owen, its a superb signing. Who cares if we were 2nd choice. Liverpool didn't have the financial clout to sign him, so we got him. He'll give 100% for us and score a LOT of goals.

Lay off Souness - our midfield is a match for any in the country and now our forward line isn't too shabby either.

Admittedly the defence needs a bit of work, but they have the makings of being a decent outfit.
