Will consider my options, probably go for 550 injectors and an uprated fuel pump, and get a full remap to take advantage of the air filter, 3" exhaust, etc.

Not sure of the likely bhp outcome but I'm opting for a safe remap rather than a hairy premature engine-wearing one.

Xtreme are a great bunch, I'm sure you'll be more than happy, let us know how you get on with your mods!

If you're ever in doubt about your knocklink working, fill up with BP Ultimate, worked for mine

Tesco's in Peterborough have 99 octane SUL I believe, you'd be better off there. A lot cheaper too.

Mate, that was funny. Pml.
The Tesco pumps in Boghorror still have the old red pump handles and are badged as LRP. It's not 99 SUL.

I asked the store manager during a Tesco complaint on Tuesday night - they had 2 for price of one offer on Lucozade Sport. It was cheaper than I can buy it at Bookers cash and carry for my gym, so I put around 200 bottles in a trolley, loaded them on the Brucey-style conveyor belt and was then told it was store policy I could only have six and I had to put them back. Lol, don't think so. I don't want any now. Put 'em back yourself since you can't be bothered to display your store policy prominently.....

So you're saying it's better when you have the choice between instruments that tell you and not having them to just go without? Yeah right. Same for oil pressure lights etc as well I suppose?

Ping/det/knock etc can all be going on LONG before you can feel or hear them yourself. Add to that noisy freeflowing exhausts/intakes etc and you will only notice it when it's to the point where the big red light would be on which is too late really.

Whatever jedi powers you may think you have.

And yes I've had plenty of much older more basic cars including turbocharged ones etc so I know the point you're trying to make but you're off the mark I think.

and the damm thing is ill now i was out in it last night and it was fine then smoke was coming from dump valve when leting ov revs as it dumped big puff of smoke then smoke from exuast and boost went down to about 10psi then i was taking car home on motorway at 80mph in 5th with my foot half on revs then the speed droped to 50mph and i was full revs and i thought it was gonna stop all together it started to miss fire like it was on 3 cylinders but i took it easy all the way home doing 30 with loads ov smoke about a mile behind when i got home i opened the bonnet and there was **** loads ov oil on dump valve and oil on inside ov bonnet where it was shooting out ov dump valve i rang my local scooby tuning place n they said that turbo will be goosed and the propeler in turbo will have snaped n gone into engine (causing it to miss fire) and i would need engine rebuild but would it miss fire if it was just turbo or seals has it got to be engine damaged aswell if its miss firing or is it just coz turbos gone plz help im not spending 2grand to rebuild my engine id rather get newer engine for bit extra cash or just change my turbo plz plz help

Sounds like you've holed a piston. When you open the throttle the boost pressure goes through the hole and compresses the air in the crankcase. This then forces the oil through the breathers and back into the induction which causes all the smoke. All that extra volume also drops the boost pressure.

(Speaking from experience - in my old Esprit Turbo I managed to burn nearly 6 pints of oil in 30 seconds and completely covered both sides of a dual carriageway in thick smoke)

Wasn't too late in this case .... and a bottle of REDEX cleaner through would have solved any issues!!

Cost? about £8!! and no CockLink to boot

Pete, depending on the nature of the problem, a cleaner may or may not help the issue. I used a cleaner (STP) in mine before diagnosing the problem - and it didn't help. The injectors needed ultrasonic cleaning to remove the crap.
If it wasn't for the Knocklink, I wouldn't have known the motor was detonating - it's not audible.
If I hadn't known it detonating, it would have gone bang on the particular cylinder it was detonating on.
The days of plug chops are over, my friend.
You don't like electronic gizmos, that's fine - let's just hope you never suffer with a semi-blocked injector, maybe from fuel tank crud because, without a Knocklink, you'll never know - it's symptomless to the ear and the car's performance remains just the same. Simply put, the fuel drips rather than drizzles, gives you a poor spray pattern and .... bang if you're unlucky.

Exactly what he said. Yes it mine have just needed cleaner this time but if for some reason you get a lean mix going through with no afr gauge or knocklink your car will go like stink because of the lean mix will knock its **** off and you won't notice until it's damaged.

Yes you can audibly hear knock inside the car when it gets extremely severe and that's when bad damage is happening.
Prior to that it's still a very bad thing but inaudible without the use of det cans or a knocklink.

Laugh all you want at our 'electronic gizmos' (luddite) but I like to know when bad things are actually happening beneath the bonnet, not simply think I know because nothing's gone bang yet....
