Little-ginge, you have now stooped to lower levels that make you look silly. It's no use hurling personal insults like those as they are not appropriate really

Deep, along with countless other doctors, works damn hard to make us stay alive as long as possible.

Why is it those with no qualifications or understanding for certain proffessions choose to question and complain all the time?

GP's don't set out to do wrong by us. Symptoms are only a clue for a diagnosis and that cannot be arrived at during a 10 minute GP consultation.

If you or anyone else is very ill, get down to A&E.

I personally applaud GP's - the amout the cr@p they have to deal with on a minute by minute basis is totally beyond most people as they don't have a clue what doctors are expected to achieve each day.

I am a staunch supporter of the NHS irrespective of its pimples and many people in this thread have shown nothing but disrespect for this profession which I find quite appalling really.

Deep, don't take anything said in this thread personally - you do a great job and those who's lives have been saved would pat you on the back and treat you with the respect you deserve

Soulgirl..

I do not stoop for long.. I admit it was inappropriate hence i have removed it BTW I think which DS has made some very inappropriate coments and these should have been removed but have not.But we will not go there otherwise this will go on forever...

Whilst disrepect has been shown from people on both sides of the argument, respect has also by shown.

The problem with this thread is that we are going around the houses.. and with this, each time a little of the original argument is lost..

People have to keep repeating themselves to set the record straight..so the circling continues..

I apologise to those of you who have sat through this debate but so that I am assured that i am not being accussed of some of Soulgirls points in her post.... here is a condensed list of some of my quotes which should answer some of her concerns..

On the flip side, patients need to be aware of the doctors workloads..which in this particular case I think it was heeded however the doctor just needed a little more care, compassion, thoroughness and professionalism by the sound of things.

People have the right to complain. If a doctor is not doing his job properly then he shouldn’t be allowed to do it at all. There are exceptionally bad ROTTEN apples in the medical profession

We put our trust in these people. Some of them do not give a toss for whatever reason and at the end of the day they are playing with people’s lives.

Not all doctors are saints as people make them out to be. admittedly there are some very fine doctors who do know what they are doing and do care and take the time to investigate and then we have the others..

IT IS PEOPLES LIVES IN YOUR HANDS. THATS A HUMAN EXISTANCE AT STAKE AND WE ARE PUTTING OUR FAITH AND TRUST INTO YOUR HANDS. WE HAVE A RIGHT TO COMPLAIN/COMMENT - JUST AS YOU WOULD IF ANYTHING WENT WRONG IN YOUR LIFE.

PEOPLE WHO PAY NI, ARE PAYING INTO THE POT WHICH AT THE END OF THE DAY PAYS DOCTORS WAGES. SEEING THINGS GO MAJORLY WRONG TO THE POINT THAT PEOPLE ARE SUFFERING & DYING AS A RESULT OF SOME ( PLEASE NOTE THE WORD SOME) DOCTORS PURE AND UTTER INCOMPETENCE, AND LACK OF CARE, PEOPLE UNDERSTANDABLY AND QUITE RIGHTLY GET FRUSTRATED AND ANNOYED.

CAN YOU NOT SEE THAT PEOPLE ARE GOING TO KICK OFF AT THIS TYPE OF THING? DO YOU THINK WE SHOULD JUST LET INSTANCES WHEN THINGS GO WRONG PASS WITHOUT COMMENT? WHY THE HELL SHOULD WE WHEN ITS OUR LOVED ONES, FRIENDS AND FAMILY SUFFERING CAUSE PEOPLE CANNOT AND WILL NOT DO THE JOB THEY GET PAID WELL FOR, PROPERLY.

Why can't people have an opinion about Doctors? As stated previously, if you buy a TV and it doesn’t work you complain, if you receive a carp service from a bank, what do you do ? complain...As I and others have said.. it's people’s lives..we have a right to be angry.

That is the ONLY reason people kick off. Because it is something outside their control and by blaming someone else it makes them feel better about themselves and it also gives them a feeling of being vindicated of any blame when things go wrong.

Guilt is a horrid horrid hardship to bear even when it is out of our control but by making a fuss we feel we have perhaps done something to help the situation.

Fancy joining me on the trampoline for a few open backs Ginge?

I hate to say it, and I'm not often moved to insults, but Little Ginge, to give you your full name, you're an idiot. There's only one person on this thread making an "a*re of yourself" and it's not DS. The thread starter had a genuine grievance, others have commented - you've merely spouted forth at a doctor who had the temerity to question your outrageously bigoted remarks.

Having stoked the fires, and when asked the perfectly obvious question - "ok, I'm a doctor, and I admit I'm not perfect - but what do YOU do that makes you so qualified to comment" - you simply refuse to answer. As for the silly colours and the CAPITALISED SHOUTING .... are you 14? If so, you have some growing up to do. If not ...... you still have some growing up to do.

I'm not a doctor (actually, I'm an accountant - quite happy to stae my profession) - the biggest responsibility I have is my family, my company and the people who work for me, but that's hard enough - and I really can't conceive of how hard it must be to face disease and death on a daily basis (I accept not all doctors are in this position) and then have to face the friends and relatives, either to console them, or to face the barrage of half-baked theorems and Internet-peddled tripe which people come up with.

You've every right to say that you're entitled to complain about doctors on a specific basis, and if you have a genuine and specific grievance, you should absolutely follow this up. That's not what you've been doing here though, is it? Your slant is that there are some good doctors, but most don't give a damn, and that's a view you're entitled to. It's just that very, very few people agree with you. Not all doctors are great, many have poor bedside manners, but very few are actually incompetent.

And some are just fantastic - my son now has his hearing, when 18 months ago he had virtually none. My niece is alive thanks to the unstinting and massively impressive efforts of Great Ormond Street. My father can walk, despite shattering his lower leg, thanks to Bedford General and the surgical team there. My GP has always been able to offer me an appointment within 24 hours, and my children have always had one within a few hours. I could go on for a lot longer, but I suspect it would do no good. You simply don't see the good that's being done every day, by almost all doctors, and are so blinded by the 0.000001% of cases which can and do go wrong.

Have a go, flame me. I'm not really bothered.

Thank you

Once again I'll emphasise that I'm not saying we should'nt complain. We should, its the only way things will improve. Actually if you ever overheard a group of Docs/nurses talking down the pub we complain more about the NHS than anyone else.

I've also never implied I'm fecking great and godlike and perfect. This is what you have tried to make out I've said. I have a great deal of humility, I'm one human error away from the death of someones loved one. That does not breed pride or arrogance believe me, quite the opposite.

You did say though that I should be struck off, you feel sorry for my patients, I have no bed side manner, I'm not good enough to wipe your feet on, and worse of all 'my sort are only in it for the money'. ( Now you made these intelligent deductions on the basis of one post.)

I d'ont think its unreasonable to ask you what you do. Lets see 'if your sort are in it for the money'

Deep

Please d'ont just keep writing things in funny colours, repeating the same arguement about the right to complain. NOBODY is saying you c'ant complain or should'nt.
This is about the insults you made directly to me about the sort of man I am. I'd like to know what sort of woman you are. Its fair

I'n not going to 'flame you'.. why bother? The capitals and colours were used in separate posts to add emphasis to my point which a few of the readers on here just werent getting not as a shouting post- if that makes me immature in your eyes so be it - did you think that your insults would actually bother me?

Everyone has a right to comment and just cause my opinion isnt yours, your call me a bigot... how can i be a bigot, when I have stated there are some wonderful doctors out there? and i have agreed with points rasied by people on the other side of the argument. I am not intolerant to those whose opinions differ.

I agree this thread did start as a genuine grievance and I sympathised (and still do ) with Mrs C for her experience.. One of the first to make a complete and utter **** of himself was guess who? our very own Deep Singh...go back and read his comments...(although there were others who may have gone ott!)

All i hear from you now is Blah Blah Blah..

I think you will find that you were highly insulting to in your, amongst others, first post.. to all of us who are not in your proffession...the comment states that anyone who is not a doctos is either thick or lazy..quotes on how many box of chocolates you get, you are always asked first etc...by simple deduction this shows just how great you think you are ...

I only began to comment properly, when you insinuated that everyone who commented against doctors were feckwits and should (your words again) should P*ss off ...

I have made my (your words again) 'intelligent deductions' from your words ( i think somehow you have posted more than once )

You have made assumptions. and have directed insults about me & mine, whilst not knowing the whole story... and then go on to comment that we only see our side of things..

you can dish it out but not take it right? To know the 'kind of woman' I am you would have to ask my friends and family.. I don't like to brag

LG.

If you will note, the funny colours are a selection of my posts.. some had to be in a different colour as I commented next to your comments so made it easier for people to see...

and the reason of the repetition.. the same reason I am having to sit here and type this - because you ( i.e everyone not just DS) are not reading the posts and are then making inaccurate assumptions.. the repeats are to get the message across and to make sure that you get where my comments are coming from HTH.

Trouble is Little Ginge, you are basing your anger here on past personal tragedy revolving around the medical profession.

You were almost blaming the medical profession for the deaths of your loved ones when in reality they may not have presented symptoms synonymous with cancer at all (not including your Dad but just how big was that split in his tongue?).

You cannot expect every person to be offered diagnostic tests for cancer on the basis they present with stomach pain alone. If someone with crohns presented with stomach pain the first assumption would be an exacerbation of that chronic disease and appropriate treatment would be offered.

Honestly, some people here must think that illness is something that can be cured with a 10 minute consultation and a magic wand. Because the same illness manifests itself differently in every single sufferer it's usually a time-line of elimination tactics to diagnose the illness correctly.

Why does a GP send the patient away for 2 weeks requesting they return if symptoms are still present? Because the majority of patients will not return as the illness would resolve itself by that time without the need for expensive tests that weren't necessary.

More people should use the knowledge of their local pharmacist in the first instance - they will gladly offer advice and drug recommendations. They will also advise you if it's more appropriate to see your GP.

Ging

You are getting it all topsy turvy again, so let me help

I made what I admit as a somewhat aggressive comment directly against the guy who said ' Drs are all badly educated f8ckwits'.

You came back with a load of insulting comments directly at me.

You've said that the kind of woman you are 'should be sought from your family or friends' Well you did'nt ask my family or friends or patients what kind of man I am. You decided to make it up yourself.

I've held back even though you have insulted me in every post. Some of which you have had to edit due to the obscenity.

I remember you saying that the medical profession was flawed. I am prepared to discuss this statement candidly and honestly but to do so would like to know what you do. There are major issues with healthcare in this country but to be honest your prepubertal mind cannot even start to comprehend them. You have neither the life experience or intellect

I think you should answer or go away and shut up. I c'ant believe you are that ashamed that you c'ant bring yoursef to answer. I feel you are out of your depth discussing complex issues of society with adults.

It seems most agree with me

Most have some issues with the NHS, me included. The majority of us seem to have issue with stupid little girls like you aswell

You are all entitled to your opinions - just as I am.

For your information I am 26 years old. I am in a profession which I cannot discuss on a public BBS - if I could I would please accept this.

So posting my opinion has led to me being labelled as a child and as unfit to debate complex issues of society with adults. What I would say to you is that it is you who has this problem as you cannot accept the opinions of others.

My posts are in response to post you have made Deep Singh, and to all others who comment about me, you should go back and read and you will see that in the structure of the posts..

DS has made some extremely unproffesional comments, which did in, all honesty, antagonise me. TBH who wouldnt it? Put yourself in the shoes of those of us who have suffered the incompetence of the NHS.. again go back and read THOROUGHLY the posts...

As i have said b4, I have had numerous PM's from people backing up what I have said on here. The only problem is, they do not want to post it publicly as they don't want the levels of abuse which I have received from certain people.

This argument did degenerate into a slanging match when the fact we had a right to complain about Drs/medical profession, resulted in us being lablled either thick or lazy.

To all people who have slated me ...**** you. I'm trying to stick up for the people. I have in some of my posts ( again read properly) stuck up for parts of the profession. The responses I have had from certain members of this forum, illustrate that they don't mind being part of a communist nation.

Why bother?????????????????????? I ask myself.

I wonder how many of you have kids, and can therefore appreciate the Carlos's situation with their child. I have 3 kids and sometimes my GP enrages me, but that is down to it being my children. But when i step back and look at it, give it time he is usually always right. I think you need to see things from both sides and unemotionally, Deep has a no win situation job,as do all medical proffesionals yes it is a job, he's not the second coming, miracles all round. If he gets it right he's a legend, next time same person not happy with the diagnosis, he's the devil this time. iI dont know Deep personally so dont think i am out to defend him on a personal level. I am a carpenter and if i ***** up i can usually fix it or replace it, can you say the same of your doctor, hence the no win situation. What has been shocking is how JODS came into this thread blinkered and raging, almost like a doctor who has been struck off, have you? Then proceeded to drag the whole thread down to his unfortunate state of mind. Maybe you could prescribe something for him Deep? Then again as i said even he's not a miracle worker

Why bother?????????????????????? I ask myself.
Seriously though, which people are you standing up for? You're their elected representative, or are you simply assuming that everyone who's not against you is therefore with you? I'm curious, but if you don't want to answer, fair enough.

I'm not sure what doctors, the NHS, and the responses you have have led to the sweeping generalisation that this is therefore indicative of a desire to live as part of a communist nation. You meant totalitarian, I guess, but even then it's like saying that "2+2=cheese" and simply does not compute.

Furthermore, if I understand your sentiment, you assume that all of those who don't share your views are somehow sheep. Sorry to disappoint you, but this is not the case - these are simply people (read their other posts) who are generally well-balanced individuals who think your case, as presented, is weak, hysterical in tone, and abusive in nature. Surely you respect the right of said posters to question what you say.

Oh, and you can't state your profession? We have accountants, barristers, doctors (obviously), police officers, teachers, oil rig workers, bankers ..... they can all admit what they do. But yours is secret, and no-one can know .....

I reckon she's a fluffer for Ron Jeremy.

Christ, I'd be a bit grumpy, irrational and have a head chock-full of rancid spunk too.

Poor girl...

289.. there is a slight problem with your post...well a big problem.. it's a load of rubbish..when have i implied that people are sheep???no i am not assuming anything.. I am offeirng my opnion ( just as you and everyone else is) and those of the people who have PM'd/emailed me re this subject.. and for those who have suffered the incompetence of the NHS - or are you saying this is just a fallacy??

You may feel that my argument is weak - that is your opinion, your right but arent you jumping on the bandwagon a little late?

As i have put, if you feel I am abusive, it is in response to DS comments which have been exceptionally unprofessional & also offensive/abusive not only to me but also to others, and whichhave done him no credit as a doctor.

Of course I respect the right of people to quetion - but these people obviously do not repsect my right not to answer - including your goodself.

I have said no since the start over my profession.. Why can't you accept that? Mine is not secret but I am not at liberty to discuss it on a BBS - have you not heard of contractual restrictions? I am afraid this thread does not warrant placing my job at risk... surely you understand that, at least???!!!

This thread is dragging on and on and is obivously getting nowhere... I have accepted your arguments, responded and now wish to move on.. which is the grown up way..

To keep this thread rolling is stupid and I think the rest of you (Deep Singh, Moose, 247) should accept it and move on.

@ 289

looking through all the posts, I can see what LG is talking about, there have been a few on here with the how dare you complain about the angels of mercy attitude. what she has said is we have the right to comment complain about the way ourselves, or loved ones are cared for. Which I whole heartedly agree with. And TBH this nation is somtimes like a flock of sheep!! just analyze and look at it.

The hysterycal weak posting?? to be honest I think LG has raised some very valid points. abusive? thats as maybe but Deep singh (the doctor of the thread) has also been abusive as have others. Two wrongs dont make a wright. Although but I can see how it is easy to be led into it.

yes we have accoutants, barristers, doctors, policemen, etc etc. this nation also has thousands of employee's that are in the mod and such organisations that are bound by a contract as not to disscus their proffesion!! maybe LG is jamie Bond

Anyway my opinion, which I will force upon all of you!! is that all that have participated in this thread are genuine 'well-ballanced' people, that have been drawn into an argument by a few antagonistic posts started by JODS risen to by DS and then LG. it would be great if people droped the attitude and posted a sensible comment to the debate without a little dig at somebody else. I too have been guilty of being drawn into it myself.

@ LG and DS, both of you have very valid points and opinions, if you remove the practice of batting comments back and forth to one another. Which is obviously confusing a few people into posting more and more antagonistic bulls#it.

Stu.

As you're so astonishingly particular over names, learn to read. It's 289 rather than 247.

My post is a load of rubbish? You were the person who stated that you were standing up "for the people", and who mentioned something which likened those disagreeing with you to communist sympathisers. If I'm talking rubbish then, with the greatest of respect, so are you.

And I have never, in all of my life, heard of someone being told they cannot describe their profession. Their employer, perhaps, but not their actual profession, other than (and I'm not kidding here) a spy. Mind you, if you work at GCHQ, you're a civil servant, and can say so - covers a multitude of sins. If you genuinely have a restriction from your employer stating that you cannot state to anyone what your profession is - not the specifics, you understand, just the generality - then fair enough. Not the sort of place I'd want to be working, tbh, but each to their own.

lol.. you guys are priceless..

This has to be the most f*cked up thread of recent times. Of course she can complain, it's her right. Of course DS is going to be offended, he's bound to be. Of course she's over protective, she's his mother. Of course DS is going to see the other point of view, I expect his time is wasted by mothers taking their kids in with problems that even 10 yrs ago would have involved a trip to the chemist, at most!

The personal insults are just indicative of the way this bbs is nowadays. I used to use this site long ago (with a username/password I don't even remember) and the occasional CWE thread aside it was a really pleasant place to spend a couple of hours.

As for DS's **** poor spelling and grammar, surely that's a doctor's right - along with writing prescriptions that are illegible and describing ailments in accents that leave you more bemused than when you went in.
