In for a penny, in for a 2.5 project.......
i have been chewing sum thougts over today
my car is away having its engine looked at
i know its dead, but we need to see how bad the damage is,
anyway, its about £1500 ish for a recon 2.0 block
which happens to be the same as the 2.5 new blocks ?
i am considering a 2.5 bottom end, with a quick base map set to the parts i allready have
ie: 440`s, sti8 fuel pump. standerd top mount, vf23 blahh blahh
it wont be a rocket, but i will be back on the road with a 2.5 lump, which in the future when i change the turbo and fit a fmic etc etc, will give me easy power increases with just a remap?
should give the gearbox an easy time as well, ovb 911 cant do this method as he races his, but a daily driver should be fine?

lol @ this
well my rebuilt engines headgaskets/cam cover gaskets have went to pot (3 years 25k miles)

so i have just ordered myself a nice 2.5 sti short block

can anybody in the know tell me what size headgaskets i should be getting to fit my v3 wrx heads ?
no worries, i was just checking prices out, was quoted around 200 for a subaru full gasket kit from the main dealers.
was just pricing up the parts to see if it was a good deal or not

If you're not splitting the block to fit uprated bearings and/or rods then the full gasket kit is overkill (although may work out cheaper than buying the specific gaskets you need individually).
It the block is coming from Mark then why not get him to supply the gaskets you need along with a new oil modine, etc, etc.

i think it works out cheaper then buying them all separate.
i wont be splitting the block, i simply want my piston slappy 97 block removed and this is the best way to sort it all in one go IMO
i will leave the gaskets up to the builders as it seams a decent price

saw these on ebay
Subaru Impreza WRX STI EJ25 1.3mm Cometic Head Gaskets on eBay, also, Subaru, Car Parts, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 16-Aug-08 14:36:56 BST)
how come these ones are only 1.3mm, any real reason for the difference ?
