God you'll be trying to see how much weight you can save by stripping the paint off next... Carpets out, seats out, hey why not go the whole hog and buy a rally spec car from Subaru/Prodrive...

But seriously - anyone have any idea how much faster 0-60 time/less fuel-usage you get for say 10kg off the weight? I remember on Top Gear they did an experiment with a really old Jag, stripping it out as far as physically possible to try and beat some other modern supercar or something.

My first post to s'net in well over a year by the way, car's been off the road for a while due to financial limitations. But I'm coming back (baby). Am wondering how much has changed. Got quoted happy the other day, surviving the expense of the new clutch it needed and can't *wait* to take it for a proper drive again. Anyone who remembers me still here?

I would have been more inclined to assist if Bob5 was not involved. Far too cocky and he knows why. Enough said.
Battery, from memory is 30Amp/hr so a lot less than intended. Treated properly it does the job. May only last 12-18mths even treated properly. Allow it to discharge fully and leave it for a couple of weeks, flat and it will be U/S. That is how I have lost 3# on two cars over the past two years.
I have interior light switch off so not on when working on car with door open. Do not play the radio all day Saturday while working on car. Do not leave H/lts on and engine off etc.
Just use a bit of common and you will be OK but ensure battery is charged regularly if car is off road for any length of time and remember if car is left at garage/tyre depot/valet etc, they will not understand it is on limitted battery life.
Cost is around £50 inc VAT and in addition to andrew Page Motorfactors any bike shop selling batteries for big BMW touring/posing bikes will have one or equivalent.
P/no. to follow when I look out invoices tonight.

Get over it Harvey. How you can still have the hump over a debate about air filters is beyond me. Water under the bridge as far as I am concerned.

Should also point out it will be necessary to put on new lugs and shorten or lengthen the battery leads so you need crimping and soldering facilities to make a good job and gain best advantage.

Could always use a battery from a Justy, weighs 9.9 kg, 028/4 from Halfrauds.

Or a Reliant Robin 850, weighs 7 kg, 895/4.


Been looking at the options, trying another bike shop on the way home.

Went with the Justy option, less hassle than the others, no need to change, connectors or extend cables. Just need to find a better way to fix it in, than at the moment.

Ive been watching this thread with interest, but for another reason.

I want to fit a smaller battery, as in physical size.
My Hybrid (cheers Harvey ) fmic to TB pipe is mighty close to the pos terminal on the OE battery and protected by a Heath Robinson'd bit of samco cut as a sleeve, would be nice to fit a shorter battery and also cut an inch or two from said pipe to move it closer to the ground

I must admit I tucked it up there for looks only, there is enough slack for it to sit well way from the Terminal, will move it tomorrow am.

Was quite light at that time, at the moment. Makes up for the winter where morrettes and driving lights are needed at mid-day.
