My 182 is a cracking car, 04 plate so just hit 12 months old, not a single squeak, rattle or fault.
To be honest i couldnt give a crap what other people think of it, coz i know whats it capable of at best of all it cost me less to buy, run and maintain than a small family hatchback!

1.Exhaust fell apart
2.Steering column creaks and groans like hell, feels like it could snap at base
3.Revs shoot up and down at random on idle (I have seen it hit 3k rpm)
4.Airbag warning light has been on for about 2 years
5.Strange massive flat spot between 4-5k revs, most reckon slipping clutch
6.Front discs are shot (only 15k miles and no track days or proper abuse)
7.Decided it frequently didnt want to start (fixed under warranty)
8.Feels like its done 50k miles
9.Is getting 25mpg (admittedly mostly town driving)

For those of you that thing a 172 with a chip, exhaust and filter only gains 5bhp I'd advise you to read the P1 vs S2000 thread of mines currently on this page. You'll note that a similarly modified 172 passed my s2000 and there is no way in hell it could do that with any less than 190bhp in my opinion.

I've just sold my 182 - after a year and 16k miles, not had one problem at all - in fact has been more reliable than my old Accord Type-R! Never went under 30mpg regardless of how it's driven, tyres still had life left in them and it only went back to the dealer for it's 12k service (£123 all in). Insurance can be heavy-ish though compared to other "hot hatches" (group 16 I think), but obviously nowhere near Scoob levels.
At sub £13k for a new one with everything (sub £12k if you know where to shop, and sub £10k for a good year old one) you really can't go wrong.
As others have said Cliosport.net is a good place to start - although just like this site, don't always believe the hype (how many people post to say they're not having any probs!)

Clio 182 is a decent hot hatch but the Civic Type-R is a better package IMO.
Bullet proof reliability which is more than can be said for the the Clio!
Better build quality by far.
The best gear box and gear change in the business that cars costing nearly £100k dont even get close to.
The CTR is quicker than the 182!
The noise in Vtec at 8250rpm is great!
The engine is built to be taken to the redline!
MPG of above 30 when driven sensibly.
Have a look here CTR beats 182 and is Tiffs Nedells fav hatch!

CTR beats Clio by a massive 2/10ths of a sec.
But both are quicker than the 2.7 boxster, and focus RS. Now, I also remember the Boxster being quicker than the S2000 around the same track, and the Focus RS is faster than a WRX.
Pretty quick cars those 182s and CTRs.

I still cant get over how sweet the gear box is on every change its like flicking a switch on and off!!
The CTR is just as quick in the dry (certainly quicker than the bugeyes) as a std UK spec Scooby (exc STI) Just dosent feel as quick cause there is no turbo surge.
An other reason for getting CTR is that it will actually hold it value the best and be worth something when you go to sell it unlike the Clio which you couldnt give away free!!

CTR = 64% of original value
Clio = something like 50-55% of original value
CTR will lose less money for same condition and same mileage.
Most 3 year old CTRs with average miles are priced at over £11K.

New Clio on the road price is £14,800
add a few options like the nessecary cup pack at £225
and the Recaros at £550 (CTR comes with decent seats into the price)
Total £15575 only @ £500 less than the CTR!
So the CTR only costs @ £500 more but after 3 years and 30K miles the CTR will be worth over £10K and clio will only be worth @£8.5K
Difference of £1500
Extra £500 seems small price to pay if you could get back £1500 extra at the end.
I think I would!

If you adding Recaro seats to the Clio, you may as well add AC, foglights and a CD changer to the CTR.
I was offered a clio 182 cup for 13300 from a Renault dealer (with cup packs), and a CTR from a Honda dealer with AC for 17000, they told me they dont discount, as they don't have to.
Either way, I ended up buying a 172 CUP with number plate (C172 CUP) and AC for 10k. It only had 1600 miles on it too.

My costs were with AC included on the CTR.
My point is that when the cost price is similar the CTR will hold its money better! Thats why I compared the normal Clio 182 not the cheaper Cup.

So are you ready to stop being a *** and talk about cars without coming out with bull**** like "I'd kick your ***"?

That implys that he wants opinions on what we think of it!
Compared to its competition i.e. the CTR, the clio is good but not quite good enough im afraid.
And it seems a few others agree!!
