How much are these going for then?.. and on what year?
Are they in the 3K bracket already?!...If so they must be as popular as the probe!

Always run on 97/98 RON.
Stage 1 ECU takes her from 185-225 bhp, not sure of torque but you can get this from the Abbott Racing website.

Volvo T5 Saloon!!!!!! Ive had a couple of these, and they sound nice, and go VERY well, AND ya can get 4 sets of clubs in the boot AND all ya mates AND it'll still do 150MPH. They've got all the toys you could wish for, AND you'd get a REALLY nice one for 2.5k. A bit old manish I know, but if ya want a solid, reliable, fast, comfy, practical motor, I'd say the T5 is the one.

there are some thumbs of our coug, we picked it up on an S plate for £4200 but it'd only done 28k miles. you can get something like a V plate for that money but with average miles... ??? 70k???
170BHP IIRC

I had a T5, damn good car, fast and reliable, dont know much about the Cougar but if its basically a V6 Mondeo then thats a good thing, just a bit of a non entity image wise.
I am pleased with my Saab, doesnt look as good as that P reg one but its a lot newer and lower mileage for the same money, wont ever look that good though, 115 isnt anything to be scared of on them, just get them checked over to be sure, all the 900 turbos were 185 bhp standard, there were lots of Natrually aspirated versions but the the turbo is the one to go for, the 9-3 got a lot of improvements and are meant to ride better and be nicer to drive but I have not driven them back to back to form a proper opinion, the 9-3 can be had with the LPT (154/150 bhp) engine in two guises, the earlier being the more powerful but the later being the torquier, there were also 185 bhp (full pressure turbos), High Output turbo's at 205 bhp and the Viggen with 225 bhp (2.3 instead of 2.0), they all chip to a greater or lesser degree, so you can start with the LPT and go up to Viggen output (225 bhp) with a chip/airflter etc, the Viggen can yield nearer 300 due to being 300 cc bigger and having a bigger turbo, however the bigger turbo can be fitted to the other engines.

J4CKO points are all well made.
Updated chip and put adjustable suspension on purely as the car was a bit of a barge around corners. The Viggen kit along with the suspension totally transformed the handling of the vehicle.
The car is priced to sell. I suppose I could put the old 3 spoke alloys back on [the suspension is for 16in or 17in wheels] and take some cash off. Either way the cars sweet as.

Sorry to go on about the Volvo, but the things will go forever as long as ya service them! As i say, they have everything you'd want in a car, apart from the image, but who's a&*sed about image when you can crash into a sherman tank and not realise what that "slight thud" was IF i eventually sell my Scoob, Im deffo gonna go back to one, and pay the wife off with the cash left over

Quite frankly I find it extremely annoying you harping on about the merits of those boxy swedish dustbins when I'm trying to sell my car
No worries, the man wants ideas so fire away. I looked at T5's but as I was from a Saab background went for a 900 which also fitted my budget at the time.
The question was regarding any car in a certain price bracket so any car it is
There are some good Volvo forums if thats the route you want to take though.
Check them out then buy mine

Its an amazingly well packaged car.

My J plate MR2 turbo T bar was great and wish I hadn't sold it (4 years ago) as the prices seem to have gone up. Drove us all round Europe with loads of camping gear and about 40 bottles of vino. Note that the boot gets bl**dy hot if you sit at 120 for 4hrs...The vino seemed to survive though. There's also space under the bonnet for a soft bag or so.
Off to check out current prices...

Nissan 200sx all the way too! Extremely reliable, Skyline's little brother, 2ltr turbo easily tunable to 280bhp, 6.5 secs 0-60 as standard, RWD. Leather interior, 10 CD autochanger as standard! and much much lower to the ground than you think when you see it in the flesh - a real sports car. For 4k you can pick up an R or S reg with less than 70k miles, FSH. The 200SX is the only alternative really value for money-wise in your price range.
