I could have not mentioned it, but I'm honest enough to admit when I have made a mistake!

To be honest, I'm not really bothered with what people think, I'm disappointed enough with myself as it is!

I've tried cutting down since March, but last Monday I have the realisation that I *WANTED* to quit!

On Wednesday last week I booked myself into the Allen Carr clinic in Raynes Park (SW London)

I did it yesterday, I'm really happy I did it. It re-enforced the book (which saves me reading it again) as well as a 20 minute group hypnotherapy session at the end.

Although I didn't feel I gained much from the course yesterday, it's amazing how much came flooding back to me today.

Part of the hypnotherapy was I would be repulsed by the smell and the sight of burning cigarettes. Strange.... normally it's the smell of someone smoking that made me consider it. Since the hypnotherapy, I can't bear the smell of smoke!

A work mate did the course of the Saturday, and is climbing the walls for a cigarette as if he is struggling with the willpower method, but I guess although he understood what was being said, it hasn't clicked. I suggested he get the book to back up the session, or it could be that he didn't WANT to give up.

Today has been much easier than every other time I've tried, including NRT, reading the Allen Carr book and willpower.

We supported you before, and will continue to do so I'm sure. it took a lot of attempts before I managed it too.

Good luck.

Nice one Andy. Its obviously worked for you especially since you're not even getting cravings in the pub!

The other thing to do is work out how much you will save over a year or two. Add to that 30% reduction in life insurance premiums and at least 5 years extra working life. Then promise yourself a present with the money you've saved. I've done that, and believe me its going to be a very fast powerful present!!

Keep it up. Just think lung cancer, heart disease etc

Deep
ps I'm week 3 now. Still get the craving in pubs, so now I go to the pub less so I save even more money

the money side of it never swayed or even slow down my smoking!!

1 week today with no issues although yesterday was a test, as I went to a pub and I had a beer while being surround by smokers. Before I would have hankered after one, but I only thought about smoking as my daughter was there (and I didn't want her near it)!

I hope your cravings calm down Deep!

I read the Allen Car book before which stopped me smoking for a week or so!! NRT doesn't work for me. I did consider hypnotherapy, but I'm too much of a cheapskate to pay for it!!

I know a few of you guys have quit recently, so what advice do you have for me?

My normal reason to have a ciggie while at work, would be to have a break from a stressful moment. I've seemed to have broken that habit, although I was pretty close to heading over to the shop earlier today!!

i've managed for about 6 weeks now with the patches and have found it really easy
the only time i want one is when i get upset

dont suffer with will power only, get the patches
good luck

Gave up on the 11th of March too still going strong

Straight will power/cold turkey for me plus the thought of my 6 month old son helped

I quit smoking on the 6th June after visting the Allen Carr clinic in Raynes Park, SW London.

That was 5 weeks ago this monday.

No desperate urge for a smoke, although I have had thoughts the last few days.

I'll have a quick scan of the book, but it that doesn't help, I'll be off for a free refresher course.

£210 is a lot of money, but over the last 5 weeks I would have spent at least £85 on smoking.

If anyone wants to do the course, I have a few vouchers that give you £15 off.

Drop me a PM with your address and I'll post one to you.

Got made redundant last wednesday and my thoughts turned to smoking again!

I haven't yet, but as a precaution, I will be attenting one of the free back up sessions this week!

Sensible move Andy..

Sorry to hear about the job....although if every cloud does have a silver lining, then I suppose it's all the better a reason not to smoke mate.

Never let the monster trick you into lighting another one

Cheers Si, it makes a change me being proactive about smoking!

I'm worried that I'm thinking more and more about smoking, bu we'll see how it goes tomorrow with the back up session.

Looks like todays refresher course really hit a nerve!

They insisted that I have the 'last cigarette' again to get the full impact, which made me feel sick!

Much less nampy pampy compared to the last 'instructor' (if they are called that).
