You must be nearly there by now Mark?
Any updates or are you driving round running-in and having fun?
Maybe you've run out of money for the fuel like the rest of us...Optimax is 98p a litre by me now..and rising?

Got back from my holidays yesterday, so no progress to speak of, but have a few W/Es to put the engine back in. I have also sprayed the inlet in red crinkle finish paint and I'm very pleased with the results.

Should have more pics this weekend and will givea full update.

With regards petrol prices, who many gallons does a tanker hold? might have to do a Dick Turpin soon

A petrol tanker (jumbo size) will hold enough (just) to get my Sti through about 300 miles if last weekend was anything to go by. I did enjoy the car (and the new suspension) a bit, but I think I returned about 10 mpg.

LOL at RB5108!

You will finish this car Mark when the season is just over! I have just 4 races left to do and maybe a little Clubbie along the way.
Time then to do the transmssion/clutch etc.(and add some slicks)

Have you installed a Lateral Paddle in yours? Want to see what you think about it's road manners. Had one in my 911 and it was 'ok-ish'.

Cheeky git and I'd like to remind you that its the whole drivetrain I've changed, not some simple engine swap and I'm doing all the work myself

Graham,
I fitted a Lateral 5 paddle. It's very good It can be a little "grabby" when moving off in traffic, but that is compaired to a std clutch

I'm sure the tankers I've seen are 6x 36000litres. Just need a garden long enough to bury one in

Mark:
Listen:
I have a real problem sorting out this bloody EVO5 with 500 ++ bhp and all that.
I have NO brownie ponts left because I am bidding on yet another guitar on ebay.

My plan is to build a home brew 2.5 + an Sti 6 speeder (same cost as a 5 speed PPG box!)

Questin (from me and the wife) will this catch the EVO?

I need you to finish this car so i will know the £5K cost (?) will do the trick, or do i sell-up and return to the 911 and pay-off the mortgage.

You have to help me out!

Of course, good luck.

Don't use the Sti 2 heads they have Hydraulic cam followers and can't take high revs (above 7250rpm like UK overbucket shim heads) use the Sti 5 ones with new valves as Andy C suggested

Mark, your choice will also be dictated by which pistons you have in the Axis St3. I wanted to use V4 Type R heads and Cams, I had to change pistons for 22cc ones rather than 12cc. Ron was very helpfull though so wasn't a big issue.

Sell it would be my advice..

I would drive a car with a similar spec and a six speed first though

Spent the day collecting some STi7 heads and having a good look at them. Ported and matched both the inlet manifold & the gruppe-s headers.

Well the end is near

Spent the day sorting out the electrics and other little jobs

Bought these off e-bay, just need to make some brackets, this are the 330x30mm discs

Jobs to complete include finding 6sp starter, missing a number of clutch/pressure plate bolts, sort out he extra wire for the throttle and source a 20g turbo.

Mark,

it may bugger your schedule a little, but if poss source the turbo before you actually fit the engine, some people seem to find it necessary to grind away some of the bell housing to fit the larger compressor housing.......

Looks good though doesn't it!!!

Hi Bats

Yeah started to angle grind the starter motor but now it's cutting into the bearing so it may have had it before to long.

Ron

wise words and I would prefer to fit the engine with everything connected.

That looks really good Mark, maybe you should build them to order!
I think I would fit the turbo while the engine is out. I found messing about to get my 20g in while the engine was in the car was a sod, especially being sure the water hose was on, the oil lines on properly etc.

Soon be running in!

Graham.
