Not wanting to be controversial but how come Dirty Bus only has three posts and he is straight in there taking about how the 260 was gaining on his STi. Something smells a bit fishy if you ask me, could these be the same person

I've got an Evo 260 (last November), I was looking at the WRX (same price £20K uk dealers) and the STI (04/05 cross over period). Ultimately, for me, I decided it was a better alternative to the WRX with the potential to get to STI territory with some gentle mod's. I can only compare the handling and performance to the bug-eye WRX with PPP I had a year or so ago and I think the Evo beats that, although performance wise I would have thought minimal unless you take into account cornering capability (understeer was a problem on my bug-eye.... simply a different league, you get a tad of understeer and then straight into SAYC control 15 degree powerslide oversteer, bog grin factor with that every time). I guess the stat's tell a story compared to the STI but frankly these car's are not designed for drag racing? Otherwise Prodrive, Citroen etc. would all have had their car's at Santa Pod last week end and not at the Rally of Mexico. Going flat out in a straight line is (IMHO) boring, lets get them on the twisties..... Also, nowt wrong with those Clio Cup's, fit bird at our place has one and for the price it kicks ***. But then again, it's french, will probably fall apart, can barely fit the shopping in the back, only has two doors, no 4wd, looks like the 1.1 version from a distance (unless u get the blue one with chav white stripes)....
Whereas my Evo is built on rally legend heritage (well a few years ago), has a fantastic 4wd system (awesome control from the active diff and SAYC at the rear), gay rear spoiler (according to the MLR, although I thinks is a tad more subtle and draws less attention), offers a good amount of performance (now's it's de-cated especially - did someone mention warranty?), crap interior that rattles, sweet gear change (although not as good as my scooby was), great 4wd system (did I mention that already).

rizzy,
I am thinking you may need to change your name to spazzy.........
The bones of this thread is straight line performance....or have you not noticed that yet. Hence, there is nothing much difficult about putting your foot down........or do find the simplest of driving tasks difficult?
Just thought I would jump on the band wagon there and start making wild and unsubstantiated assumptions about other peoples driving ability.

Two different cars is the entire essence of the thread.
The point Dirty Bus was making is that this is not about driver ability in the slightest. If there is anyone out there that cannot wring every last drop out their car in a straight line, then they should have their car taken off them and a Skoda Labia put in it's place.

In answer to your original question, to find the answer you will have to be a little subjective and go and test drive both. And have some fun!
