Here we are then.... A response to lewis's slogan 'cut and paste fest'.
1. Employment Relations Act 1999 – brought in new rights for all working people including greater protection against unfair dismissal; new rights for part-time workers on pay, pensions, holidays and benefits, minimum holiday and maximum working time. The ERA also established for the first time the statutory right to trade union recognition.
Benefits only chavs (the ones that have to work) and immigrants. But of course the real reason for its introduction is as a carrot to keep the TUC on side.
2. Paid maternity leave has been extended to 26 weeks at an increased rate of pay of £100 a week.
Appears generous. But then it’s the employers who are forced to pay this thus crippling small businesses with additional costs, which in turn leads to them being less inclined to employ women of child-bearing age.
3. 2 weeks paid paternity leave is being introduced from this year.
As above
4. First even National Minimum Wage – £4.20 an hour, benefits 1.3m people, 70% of whom are women and part-time employees. Keir Hardie first started campaigning for a minimum wage in the 1890s.
The Department of Trade and Industry has estimated that the effect of the 30p increase in the minimum wage rate in 2003-4 would provide a net savings to the Exchequer of £260m, from a reduction in means-tested benefits. Costs which are passed on to small businesses. So what was happened to the £260m they saved - have the savings been passed on to the tax payer? Who benefits? Oh, that'll be the Treasury then.
5. Moving to full employment across the UK. There are 1.5m extra jobs since 1997. Unemployment is at its lowest rate since 1975.
The Office of National Statistics show what is really happening - they are not steering the economy, they are riding on demographic change. Employment was rising from 1993 and in the last five years, there has been no real growth at all.
The ONS statistics show that employment has risen steadily from 25.3 million in 1993 to 28.4 million today. But its report also makes clear: "While employment levels have generally been increasing over the past four years, the rate of increase has been no more than in line with population growth, leaving the trend in the employment rate largely flat since 2000.
6. Tackled long term youth unemployment. 390,000 young people into work through New Deal. Long term youth unemployment reduced by three quarters since 1997.
Latest figures from the Office of National Statistics show that 1.11 million people aged under 25 who are neither working nor in full-time education, which represents an increase of 28,000 since May 1997. In addition there are there are 7.86 million economically inactive people of working age, which is up by 310,000 since May 1997.
7. Lab Govt now committed to massive programme of investment in public services, especially NHS and education. Spending on public services will grow by £61bn over the next 3 years.
More talk. Where’s the evidence of improvements? What are we getting for **our** £61bn? That’s an enormous amount of money for bugger all tangible improvement.
8. There are 200,000 more public sector workers since 1997.
Make that 500,000 – a rate of 444 extra state jobs every day!!!. Doing what exactly?? Much of this employment is about buying votes. They are jobs that would go if the government loses power. I see they’re trying to play this figure down not surprisingly, so - more lies.
9. Public sector pay is rising significantly faster than private sector pay for the first time in more than a decade.
Again out of our pockets. More tax payers money spent to buy Labour votes. Cheers.
Get back to you on 10 but for now I have to pop out for a bit. Anyway, I think you get the picture. It's all dressed up to look good but is in fact rooton to the core. New Labours top ten slogans. About as much use as their worthless pledges.

So what happens when they go up again, as they inevitably will? What happens when overstretched families that are already maxed out on credit have to stump up another £2500 just to keep afloat? Yes, it'll be 'repo' time!!
They won't be thanking you then.
BTW - I'm *no* better off as I have paid off my mortgage already. I want interest rates up, up, UP!!!

I want rates UP UP UP too!!
From a selfish point of view I want to add cheaply to my property investments and repos are great for that
And its not Labours fault if people over borrowed .... Labour doesn't tell people how to spend their money (except for the contribution for Hospitals and such like)

Hoorah!! Lewis capitulates by agreeing, thereby forfeiting the win.
I therefore claim victory for the Tory cause....

Well, as UB has clearly won this one . . . .
Amazing how lowering the bar continually means more people clear it, isn't it? I'm sure some troll not very long ago was commenting on how modern graduates were a waste of space?
Well, for the first time ever, I have to laugh at the lewis sense of humour in action. I suppose if you take one meaning of the word "considerable", it's true. Most people are able to consider a single celled organism.

OK, then YOU decide to buy a 2.5 Bed House and pay 40% of your salary to fund it?? YOU decided to do that - when you were quite well off in the house you bought under the Tories?? YOU decided YOU weighed up the costs YOU went ahead ..... and its Labours fault??
You, Sir, are a complete and utter IDIOT
Never in the field of human conflict has someone so stupid tried to argue against someone so smart!

10 THINGS LABOUR HAS DONE FOR PENSIONERS
1. This financial year we are spending an extra £6 billion in real terms on pensioners as a result of policies introduced since 1997. This includes £2.5 billion more on the poorest third of pensioners – THREE times more than the earnings link since 1998 would have given them.
2. With Labour’s reforms – including a higher state pension, winter fuel allowance and, from next Autumn, the new Pension Credit – all pensioners have gained, but those in most need gain most:
a. Average gain from all Labour reforms is £1,150 per year
b. £1,500 per year for the poorest third. YES £1500!!!
3. The basic state pension increases to £77.45 this year and to £79.50 next year.
4. Minimum Income Guarantee benefits 2.1 million pensioners and will rise to £102.10 this year.
5. Over a million fewer pensioners living in absolute low income since 1997.
6. From April 2002 the State Second Pension immediately allows 18 million people – 2 million carers, 2 million long term disabled people and 14 million low to moderate earners – the prospect of building better entitlements than previously.
7. Over 3 million pensioner households with someone aged 75 or over benefit from free TV licences.
8. Winter Fuel payments help over 11 million pensioners in 8 million households and will be £200 for the rest of this Parliament
9. Free eye tests for all pensioners restored - after the TORIES charged the Elderly!!!
10. Reduction on the VAT on fuel from 8% to 5%.
Theres MUCH more, MUCH more ...... this is why the TORIES will get THRASHED!! Oh, Happy Days!!

Any of you astute house buyers, would have noted that house prices run through a cyclic trend, there have been over the last 50 years or so 2-3 periods of very high interest rates followed by a slump, the rates, prices then climbed to higher than before..
look at the figures before spouting.
we have a guy at work like one of the contenders in this bout...
it dosent matter what you say, he is allways right!!! even when you tell him to **** off he still dosent get the message,,, the mindset is if there talking to me i have friends....
lets spice it up with a side bet,,,
if the opposing party looses, will the champion for that party from the two contenders have the ***** to come and post and publicly admit they were wrong, and xx members were right???
somehow i dont think it will happen..

Has anybody else lost the will to live yet. Half of the 10 o'clock news tonight was on the impending election. Imagine what we will all feel like if Unc B and PSL carry on like this for 3 months.
ITS THIS SIMPLE They are all politicians so by definition, lying, double dealing, egocentrics who have only one agenda. Promotion of themselves.
Or am I taking all this cobblers a bit too seriously.
I'll go back to downloading some more Nurburg stuuff.... Thanks very mucho Gutmann P.

Also regarding the mortgage point - NL are also taking credit for the world economic cycle that means we happen to be in a low interest rate period? Tony B personally responsible for the US economy? The whole of the Eurozone? Is that right Pete? Also can you explain how 66 tax rises - not forgetting the lovely council tax rises means I'm better off? Please explain how your version of reality and the real world bear any kind of resemblance to each other?
Thanks in advance - NOT

Round 1 appears to be over and it is my job to declare the winner!.
*lines up fighters and hold a glove in each hand*
The winner on points is......
Pete!
BUT, he is disqualified on a technicality I.E. excessive copying and pasting. As you all know, any assistance is illegal, even from Labour's website, therefore the winner is UB!
*sends fighters back to their respective corners for "magic sponge" treatment*
And as the girly walks around the arena holding up a card with a "2" on it and looking pretty, its over to our commentry team for their feelings before the second round kicks in.

Jim "Count Von Count" Rosenthal - Well Barry, what do you make of the first round then?
Washed up has been - Well Jim, first impressions are that we are in for one hell of a fight. UB was eager to take up the challange with a few early hits in the form of original insults and name calling. Despite Lewis's late arrival to the ring he responded with a lot of energy for someone of his age. However, after this promising start, he lost his way somewhat as the first round unfolded.
J"CVC"R - You are of course talking about the excessive copying and pasting.
WUHB - Precisely Jim. His use of non original material, together with a response consisting mainly of rhetoric was predictable and when UB countered with constructive and original responses to his pasted bullet points, well, the round was his from then on.
J"CVC"R - So you think the fight is over before it has really started Barry?
WUHB - Not by a long shot Jim. Lewis is famed for his insults and name calling, after all, he is not on this fight card for his good looks and charm. All he has to do is move away from the pasting which lost him the first round and manipulate the arguement away from politics and towards more personal remarks and back biting. If he can manage that then UB will be more than happy to rise to that challange and together they will slug it out for hours at a time. Not only will the quality of the fight be elevated, but it will be an extrodinary specticle as well.
J"CVC"R - Barry, thank you very much. Well the seconds are ticking away and its nearly time for Round two. Both fighters look eager and ready to get back into it, lets see what the second round will bring
"Seconds out, round two!!!"
