So David is theran advantage to a External Wastegate and also do you get that tremendous wastegate chatter. Also who does the exhausts and what roughly costs.

you can get a smoother exh flow using an external wastegate. but for cost time and effort there's no point on your car. to make the most of it you'd have to modify/replace the up-pipe, custom downpipe plus 300odd quid for the wastegate. The money would be better spent else where as the internal wastegate can control the boost just fine.

If you plug the hole where the dump valve is you'll get the fluttering wastegate noise..... not recommended with the IHI turbo's though!

Ok So to gain the noises of the Rally cars would cost a fortune. NAh think will leave that alone then least for now. Until I can start dating a female Prodrive Mechanic with access to parts department.

For the power you're looking for I'd go TD05FE. You'll be lucky to pick a good one up for £150 these days or even £250 converted as most are snapped up quickly. I'd look at Fiesta boys turbo sharpish...

I'm not convinced that the TD05 will be a good 'all round' car though. A bit laggy and top-endy unless carefull attention has been paid to supporting mods 'n mapping IMO. Most just wack 'em on with a big zorst and hope it'll be OK
