Ive got back into it now source is out after a long time out. Used to play for a few good clans back in the day including UKLA and a stint at 4kings.
Got back into it now but biggest regret is moving to an optical mouse - never the same and Ive tried going back but used optical too long
Need a pc upgrade as only getting 30fps in 800x600 which is a bit of a disadvantage when the lead is flying.
Is it just me in source or do the grens not fly straight? Number of times I clip a wall as too close or bounce one of a team mates head.

The grenades flight is not as trustworthy as it used to be, grenading doors on the run is a lot trickier than it used to be, and they will also bounce off the guys head in front of you if you dont aim high enough.......
Sounds like we have a few on here now, popped onto davegtt server last night and there was no one there, had to make do with the whingers on my normal server.

forget the friends thing on steam its cr@p. as TAINTON suggested xfire is best to use....
Fitz, as said the server is always dead because that clan mainly play ghost recon.... only me and AK who play in that group so if we want to use that server its best if a time and date is arranged and we can all meet at that Ip, should be fun.
Had a quick blast with TAINTON last night about 6-7 and another game about 10:30 with AK for an hour

I'm open to suggestion for messenger clients - I use msn a fair bit but I have no issue with using another one for CSS. Any links for xFire?

Fitz, no worries but I will only be on after 10pm or so - as I said, a couple of after-work beverages.
May well be worth building that server up if nobody is on it, starting with some knives and pistol/nade/fb/smoke only rounds

I found out that the wire to my left headphone has been pinched. Ended up camping in a corner spinning round and round so that I could work out where the footsteps were coming from with my right ear!!

Floated around the Lanse source server for a few maps lastnight, took me 3 rounds to realise we were play prodigy. The new maps look fantastic.

Started with SA (Snipers Alley) as first real clan and that got migrated into the reformed UKLA. Lost in the final of our first Barrysworld CS Final againsts numbers - after some godlike awping by #4 on nuke.
All this reminiscing and dug some old screenies out pre source:

Best match I ever saw was on HLTV - the CPL 2001 finals - NiP (Ninjas in Pyjamas - Sweden) vs mTw (USA) and NiP just pipped it.
We did ok but when we played them (NiP) in London on LAN for CPL qualifiers they were in a different class. Along the lines of us playing as t on prodigy, bomb down, 4 t's left and 1 ct. CT (NiP) grens 1 T, awps another and then caps off the remaining 2 with USP pistol. All in the space of like 4 secs - you had to be there to believe it.

Upgrades
Wow, this thread growing and I still haven't met any of you online.
P1 posted a while back about upgrading his PC, what spec are you guys using. We have Alienware PC's at work so do most of our CSS during work hours lol.
My home PC is an old AMD athlon 750 w 256MB RAM and a geforce 440MX card. I'm wondering if upping the RAM to a GB and putting a much more capable graphics card in will allow CSS to run decently, I can't play it at home and even CZ is bad.
