BOO
Yep me again, I had a call from Barretts on wednesday to say that they are ready to start on the car and said it would be ready in 3 weeks. yippee.
I best get to work wrapping the headers and downpipe that's sitting in the garage, I have taken a couple of pictures of other bargains that I have pick up along the way.
Link ECU Q chip

SX regulator with gauge

Autometer gauges

Spec C waterpump

I'll post pictures of the headers later when I have wrapped them, I'm not looking forward to this as I have been told it's a bitch of a job.

Hi Markus,
I'm looking forward to getting it back all I need to do now is get it mapped and run in.
Mark A
I have a link to a online shop that supplys them cheap
when do you think you will be ready for a remap? I have sent a mail to Bob R911
You're not wrong, what a ****e job, I let the wrap soak in warm water for an hour before i used it there was no itching but a couple of rather nasty blisters where I was pulling the wrap tight. I'll get the pictures posted later.
I have also purchased a Hybrid FMIC that will be fitted when I get the car home.

What a fecking ****e day I've had, I took the last of the bits to barretts today to find that Phill can't put the heads back together due to swarf getting between the cam/ cradle and heads. The result is both heads are really badly marked and the cams are scored as well, to top the afternoon off I got home to find an import/duty tax form on the door mate requesting payment.
So, you guessed it, I need a pair of heads and all the bits to go with them. I have had a quote for version 5 heads from subaru and they come in at £1610 +vat
Any suggestions

Failing that grade A has 1 set of sti5 heads available but they are a little more expensive.

Good luck with them!
you are having a tough time, this tuning game is never easy...
If it is any consolation, tuning 911's is no better either, I spent 10 years doing that..
It will all be a joke in 3 months time!

That was the first port of call as his number is called daily, he has nothing at the moment to hand.

15mm is the difference
Phil priced up v5 heads and cams from the chasis number of the car, it would appear that there are 2 types of v5 heads from what I have been told.I dont suppose you know where there may be a set lying around?
nothing is ever straight forward when I do it.....

Didn't 'customscoobyiom' (Jon) have some about 4 months ago in For Sale?
Try ASPerformance, Alyn is a rally type so might have bits everywhere.
He is a good guy and is a regular on here.
Another is Rally Colin, search for him too!

I have mailed Harvey - waiting reply
I had a look at a set of STi4 heads yesterday from Jspec7 and they were damaged, they looked as if they have been dropped on the cam ends. Externally they looked ok but when you removed the cam covers there was bits of ally and cam in the heads

Mail Rallycollin - waiting reply
Waiting for pictures from welshsubaru05 he has a set already rebuilt but I dont think they will fit the phase 1.5 manifold.
Tomorrow I will ring around the subaru breakers to see whats available.
Open to all
If I bought the sti V5 cams could I use the standard head castings with my valves/buckets and shimes, obviously I need new castings as mine are damaged? answers on a postcard please

How is yours going?
I have some late UK classic heads, but a valve is missing. I'd palnnned to port and change the cams etc but in the end bought some sti 6's.
I've pm'd you the person name selling the sti 3 heads.

Cheers Dyney, I owe you a beer for the contact
I got a set from HDC subaru and they were the cheapest £300 for the pair +p&p should be here in the morning. I have gone for the same uk98 heads but may change the cams I will more than likely get them polished and ported for better flow.
Here are the headers that I had the plessure of wrapping I didnt take a picture of the finished work of art though, doh.

Here are the fuel rails that Mef converted for me already on the manifold with injectors fitted.

Thats about it for the moment, I'm of to modify my inlet pipe so i'll post a picture later.
I may even get this car back on the road before the end of May

Nice to see some progress Bryan.
That wrap you're using looks like good quality stuff, i may have missed it earlier on but where did you get it from?
Those fuel rails look like sex too. Very, very nice.
PS: those aren't plastic cable ties are they?

Right! Need to get my spare rails done now.
Iain,
when you get the rails done drop gary a line as we have thw fittings and the braided hose for the lines.
Hi Carl,
How you doing? The wrap I used was from http://www.agriemach.com
there not the cheapest but are just up the road from me, they give a discount to scoobynetters as well. I used 150" of the stuff for the headers and downpipe, the cable ties were easier to use at the time but have now been replaced with lock wire and stainless ties.
Hi Brad,
Thanks for your help and the numbers.
I have just finished the inlet pipe, I had an old samco pipe that was damage when removed from a 95wrx. So what I done was cut it in two and slip the samco over a 76mm alloy pipe.

The overall length was measured from the OE pipe, I have placed this under the inlet manifold and it's a snug fit, this should stop the pipe from collapsing when it's on boost.
Just need to sort the rest of the pipe work out now, but I think the fmic will need to be fitted for that.
Stay tuned
