No luck yet fella. Interviews are currently being lined up at Watsons & Capita so fingers crossed

Gearbox is a bugger. I found out mine had gone by the shavings in the oil. Looked kinda like it it had glitter in it

Anyway where's the local rags you promised LOL

The oil looked fine, nice and clean. I'll send up my dirty linen LOL Today was the day, I fitted the bigger turbo with the help of Gary (Starship Impreza) It's bloody huge

Here is the TD05 16g

Here is the 20g

and here they are side by side

Need to drive the car off boost now until next friday when Simon will be remapping it just hope the gearbox holds out for a little longer. Everything looks fine on the lambda link and egt gauge so fingers crossed.

Brian - How long did your Gruppe S Headers take to arrive & how long did it take to fit them? Thinking of going that route myself as mine are blowing again!!

Might just put the standard ones back on

These are the ones that I was going to buy, but as i needed the car on the road I couldn't wait the 2 weeks delivery from the states. I think Gary is looking at these, I can only think the more slip joints you have the chance there is of them splitting....Correct me if I'm wrong tech heads

Back to my car.....it's getting mapped on friday

Just ordered some. £260 delivered to the door

Question - Anyone tried ceramic coating as an alternative to wrapping?

Ello Simon. Dunno if Bryan told you but I replaced all 4 of my Bosch coils the other day coz I couldn't be bothered to find which one was knackered Thought you might want them to go with the one you've got?

Drop me a line if you do as they're just sitting in the garage

Good luck with the mapping session and welcome to the 20g club. Best get thinking about that gearbox though as the torque on mine killed my box today. And I am looking to push the power and torque to even higher limits if possible as well.

Well the gearbox survived the mapping session why didn't I go for the 20g in the first place the car feels a lot stronger in all gears and pulls like a train to 7K there is hardly any lag and I'm on full boost by 3500rpm 1.4 held :wow: At first the car was peaking and holding over 1.5 bar but then the dreaded boost creep appeared so we turned it down a little removing a little timing LOL only a little

Next step is to get it on the rollers again and get a power figure and then start saving for a gearbox, once thats been replaced it may be time for another remap

Big big grin factor for JGM

Nope no signs at all ,perfectly fine one minute, crunch and loss of third the next, and nearly loss of all gears until the bits of the cogs from third dropped to the bottom of the box freeing up the remaining gears. It will likely happen when you least expect it.

Glad your pleased with the map and the 20g. Apart from mine tailing off after 5500 rpm I am well pleased. And once the gearbox is fitted and K&N fitted I am hoping mine will go all the way to 7K.

Just to clarify Bryan.. I didn't remove any timing..

It will take more timing.. just with the occasional overboost in 5th I wanted to make sure the timing was still safe with any overboost, although boost cut is 1.53bar anyway.

Get some other form of boost control on there or port the wastegate (the Link is not allowing optimal control of the 20g as there is a little creap) and things will come up even quicker in the headlights! as the timing could be advanced a degree or two.

Next step if you still want more.. EBC / wastegate port and 3inch downpipe and the extra advance.

Hi Simon,

as per conversion last night....the bloody headers have gone again ( there's a nice crack in the 4-1 collector visable from the top of the engine.

As these need to come off again it may well be worth porting the wastgate a little more?

These are the ones that were fitted after the megans

Bryan

Hi Andy,

When the headers are cold you can get your finger nail in it :wow: they are blowing on the top of the collector pipe so would need to come off really to be fixed. I have sorted a set of equal length headers and they should be here in 2 weeks so will keep you posted.....I'm gonna get the other ones fixed and keep them as a spare set.

Is it ported already then?

My be worth it if it looked like you are able to port it a little better.

That's a shame.

if you need someone to weld them or to borrow a mig set for week or two, let me know.
