What is common? What on earth do people use as a basis for this - the fact they see a few others. Drive down a major motorway for 100 miles and count what you see most of - Ford/Vauxhall or Subaru/Mitsubishi?

Real points please people!!

I'm happy to drive a nice clean sorted classic Scoob. Even if some chavs drive them means nothing. A chav may wear the same jeans as me(one weeks wages for him!) but that does'nt make us in anyway similar
ps I d'ont own a Scoob anymore
pps this country is going Chav crazy!!!!!!!!!!

Can you all stop calling the old shape car a classic. It's not true and it gets on my ****. Call it a MK1 and you're at least telling the truth.

~LOL indeed at this thread.
Done to death before, added to which the starter appears to be full of waffle who sold the car a fair while back for one reason:
Couldnt keep up with the finance

original post from October:
"sold the scooby, got 15k to play with", "I'll miss the speed".

My take:
There are the same number of classic scoobs about on the roads today as there were in 2001 (when the bugery eye came out). give or take allowing for crash/destoyed turnover and imports in.

How can it take 5 years for you too see how many cars there are on the road, if anything, hasnt the scoob become more affordable with the 01MY onwards, hence more popular/common?
If anything Classics are a diminishing breed as no more are being produced to replace the broken ones.
But there are a lot of them about, and as they become more affordable they come into the wallet capabilities of CHAVS.

I always maintain that it shows more about you that:
a) you thought a £20k car could be exclusive.
b) You care more about your vanity than actual the actual ability of the car.

I did have a more blinkered view on things, but my old pal C put me straight on those.
I also got my classic to 330brake and it became a different proposition altogether.

Lynne, your views on the cossy are just as blinkered as those scooby ones on here LOL, I think subaru only came into production of the Impreza cos Ford made such a pigs ear of the essy cossy

You think we're bad, check out the MLR lol

Jack, why would that be?
Mk1, version 1 wahetever would be the 93 car pre-facelift wouldnt it?
with mk2 version2 etc being facelifted etc etc

I think the term icon was dubbed by autocar in the january 2000 edition

Cool

I've got 2 of those common classics - pre facelift too. One of them is a MY95 WRX STI RA, hens teeth apparently.

To enthusiasts its a rare car, to Joe Bloggs its just another scoob. I don't give a **** either way, I bought it to enjoy it

Ok, don't wanna repeat what others have said but got bored reading at page 4.
Friend of mine has a WR1 which in IMO is an awesome looking, performing and very exlcusive (only 500 for f**ks sake). He is looking to sell it cos he has his eye on an FQ400.
This car will be awesome (see top gear, jezza in FQ versus lambo) and fairly exclusive at 47k, i think it will be a good move because i can respect both cars equally.
I only own a classic turbo but i'm not a chav, i don't earn a fortune and am only 22 i love it and it gets a lot of looks but then again so do novas with a dustbin for an exhaust. People will love and hate different cars depending on what they are into, think of yourself and what you wanna drive and own.

Just babbling now so thats it.

My opinion only

Rob

The owner who started this message seems to have a huge chip on his shoulder, very much doubt it was the car, sounds a little insecure.

I got rid of a 600 WHP skyline to get a scooby, i prefered the skyline but have much more fun in the STI.

I dont get embarassed when other owners pass me by, why would you?

And my opinions on looks......

Evos = Look like Fast Lada's with body kits
Subs = Look like Fast Skodas's with body kits

Some of us bought the cars for looks the others for performance, some, both.

I'd have a GTiR of only they would stay in one peice.

And anyone who really listens to the TopGear staff need their heads read!

THEY GET PAID TO TALK CR*P - They are advertising robots, look at the audience! drones, they are all plastic props the BBC made to make the show look popular. They aren't real !!! They know as much about cars as Robbie Williams knows about talent! nothing.

I'd love to see Clarkson drive an evo or Scoob round a street circuit or even a closed of high street and see his 'back end out' driving style that thrills the nation last more than four seconds.

Air strips are great, they are 80ft wide with no KERBS and few potholes!

As far as a modded Evo vs a modded STI go, whats the difference? the driver, they are not the same drive cause they are not the same car.

I hated people who likened the skyline to the Evo and to the Scoob, thats like matching a race horse to a race dog, both very fast but different sports. The M3 always gets thrown in for good measure too.

Anyone familiar with the japanese GT races know that the groups, the cars, the laps, the way every class is run is catagorised, shame the originator of this message didnt know more about the cars and the drivers, otherwise he might have decided to keep his.

Who cares which is faster and better round corners, can't we all just get along????

We should take the time to get to know our near cousin the charver, doctors and researchers have spent decades getting to know monkeys better, we should do the same to the CHAV.

Go on, go out and shake the hand of a chav, get to know one, adopt one as a pet, sponsor one! Buy the big issue of one at least.

There aren't enough straight roads for skylines with power. It got very dull after a while, the STI, punchy, **** kicking! much more fun.

What about the 4wd versions though... dont they handle the same as a scoob?

I must say though - I have just had 17's fitted with Toyos and my rear end splays like that of a 18 year old virgin... whereas my trusty Michellins on 16's held like **** to a blanket.... could my tracking be out?
