Under the carpet, behind a metal plate in the front passenger footwell. The number is on a sticker on the top of the ECU. OR you could just look at the colour.

Brown or Black - AE800 / 801 (can't remember which is which)
Green - AE802
Pink - PPP (if you've got this, then you're lucky)

Steve,
I would assume yours was just registered later than when it was made making it a MY00 on the documents ?
An interesting point by BuRR there... if you check out your ECU you will be able to tell exhactly what it is by the colour of the ECU and that will show you what Turbo is fitted onto it also. I think that's about right ??
Don't worry I am not new to Subaru but I am to Turbo as I have run 2 n/a models in the past.... so I am on another new learning curve here too.

......a "Y" in the chassis # denotes a cambelt change at 60k, otherwise it's 45k on your year 2000 classics.

Steve

Oh and where is the ecu and is the model number on it?
From SIDC FAQ:-

The 2000 car added some minor but welcome changes to the 1999 model, following the theme of contunual development.

The most obvious changes are the wheel design. Out went the much loved curved 5 spoke design, to be replaced with a 6 slender spoke design. Opinions on the new wheel style are generally mixed, but more owners prefer the older 5 spoke design to the newer one.

Other changes include colour coded mirrors and door handles, adjustable intermittent wiper speeds, remote central locking (was already fitted prior to delivery for UK cars with the alarm system), a metallic fascia, map reading lights and a new gear ****.

Cambelt on MY00 is 60k miles or FOUR years

Cheers,

Ian.

Thanks for the reply chap's excellent !!
Mine does have a "Y" in the chassis #

Now slightly changing the subject I have a set of 17" WRX alloys off the bugeye, I assume these will drop straight on there ? I have seen quite a few people running them so I don't see a problem ?

Any one got a set of spare centre caps for these by chance ??
I had to remove them and put them in the 15" wheels that I have put back on the bugeye.

They'll go straight on but check on the tyre size. The bugs had a slightly different size iirc. 215/45/17 i think whereas a classic needs 205/45/17 or 215/40/17

Thanks Brun.... Just checked out what they are and it's 215/45/17 Toyo's.
Tyre sizes confuse the hell out of me here, so I assume that these will not fit ?
Will they rub on something, or is it more techinical than that ?

Right Brun that makes sence, on my Bug Sport the original tyres were 15" 195's and when I had the 17" fitted on it the speedo was always about 3mph slower then my Road Angel display... or was it faster ?? do you know I can't remember now lol
