405bhp @6400rpm ant 355 lb-ft torque at 5500rpm

I'm not sure I'm all that Impressed with anything other than the warrenty to be honest. However I'd like to see the curve from a rolling road before reserving judgement. I heard it peaked at 1.7bar boost, anyone know where it make's a bar?

The FQ400 has been mapped at the bottom end of its potential,ie.405hp/350lbs and the motec locked, this is for warrenty reasons, when the car was being developed and specced(spelling)it was taken well over 500hp/400lbs,and a final figure of 450hp/375lbs was almost confirmed, but in the end mitsi settled for 405hp/350lbs....this is one of the reasons its got so much lag as the turbo was originally going to be for 500+hp,but obviously due to time constraints with the IX out in april, the MR400 had to be realeased with 405hp/350lbs....if you can afford one of these im sure you could afford a new Motec M800 and get it mapped to the cars full potential,,,if you did that i dont think there are a lot cars out there who could live with the EVO,not that many can with mitsis 405/350....

Then if you buy an M800 ecu, you loose the warenty and the whole point of buying an out of the box 400bhp car.

Still not impressed, and my outlook on the car is going downhill.

On the otherhand, I'm never going to own one, or probably even drive one so my opinion doesn't even matter

RB5......still comes with warrenty......didnt say anything about putting the old one back in if anything does go wrong...hmmm...cant you people just realise how good these evos are???..i mean even the older IV and V handle better than the 05 STI!!!.yet alone the MR and the new IX out in april, same old argument i know, but iv owned both scoobs and evos, just my opinion i know, these are both great cars but evos are the better cars and i would pay the extra couple of grand for a MR FQ320 than a STI 05....

The Motec comes with data logging. It would be noticed straight away if the ECU had been changed, and so void the warrenty.

I don't want to open a can of beans here, but I do recall a 'best motoring' video (jap equivelent of top gear I suppose), where there was evo's III,V,VII and VII RS vs STI's III type R (suspension tuned), VII,VII type R and VII spec C + a skyline R34 all racing a 3 or maybe 5lap race.

It was very close at the end, don't remember which won (spec c I think), but the EVO V was about half a lap behind and the EVO III couldn't have been far off being lapped.

All the drivers were pro racing drivers.

Anyway sorry for my rant, I'll stick to the topic now!

I would agree about the past, but nowadays, from personal experience it seems that the newer subarus have more than closed the gap and the mitsubishis haven't moved their game on in order to compensate.

Thats why the type 25 is so globally loved.

As for staying with a laggy 2.0 litre with 400bhp, don't you believe it for a second. There are plenty imprezas and evos which could trounce that car for a lot less money.

peak torque at 5500rpm? they only redline at 7k.

I have been making 500lbft at 3400rpm and holding over 400lbft to almost 7000rpm. Torque curve wise, that monster has a lot to catch up on, even at full boost!

That aside I still want an evo 6

John, hysterical replies. I may have to get my GP to start talking liek you and wearing the appropriate clothes, just for comic value.
