Default Evo VIII 400 bargain (?)

Whilst sorting out my new STi for next year, I popped into the local Mitsi dealer to have a gander at some Evos. Got talking to the dealer who told me that a person who lives around the corner from me has bought a MR 400 which he'll get in July. The price? 37k! saving 10k off the UK price. IMHO, it is still far too expensive, even with 10k off.

(Note to self: When you get the new car and see an Evo coming up behind - get the hell out of the way)

Unfortuately John, you have to have British Forces Germany entitlement to buy them at that price. If you PM me, I can still give you the details if you want though. Oh, and they were only given 2 400s

Thanks, don't worry then. It is the tax advantage for the forces that swings the discount here, not an open to anyone offer from the sounds of it.

Yeah not such a great offer after all

Plus don't ask about the FQ400 that failed its durability test with a snapped rear axle the other day...

The problem with the 350 is only having 2 seats and bugger-all 'boot-space' - I (or more realistically) the wife cannot justify spending that much on a car than won't handle / accelerate and is generally down on power than a Subaru. It is also about 2/3 k more so I'm going to plump for a '05 STi with PPP

Cool why you talking like a wimp man!!!!!!

Dont ever be intimidated by evos. Dont know what scooby you drive but my STI-4 RA V.ltd always sees off anything. Wether at lights or mid-range or tops. Getting bored of always thrapsing anything that ever fancies its chances. Anyone up for it. Bring it on!

dont usually reply to posts like that, but I just couldnt help my self::

just because you can afford to own a 6 , 7 or 8 year old car, dont think its the fastest thing on the road, I agree, nice car the RA, but people like you with that attitude give scoob/evo owners a bad name

IMHO

Merry Xmas

Thats a suprising statement for what you get

I agree £47k is a lot but £37k is a great price for that spec. People seem to think it's the normal MR but just producing 400bhp, there's a lot better hardware on the 400's.

Yup, no problem. I know quite a lot of people that wouldn't struggle either. How bored are you? Fancy losing lots?

I think it is worth £37K. At least it won't break engines we hope.

thedogs, I'll get out of the way of your STi 4 as well. You are welcome to pass, but since I make about the same output at half the engine speed than the standard STi 4 needs I hope I don't hold you up either as I politely pull into the inside lane and leave it a few gears too high. I should stop doing that, the poor sods must be stirring their gearboxes like crazy thinking they are keeping up or gaining whilst I just hold on to one long gear. It beats the "how much boost do I really need" and stirring the box game anyway

I'd still swap it for an FQ400 at £37K though "Put the effort back into driving"

thedogs - I don't have a scoob. Got a westie running something between 300-350bhp per tonne and the engine(190bhp) is pretty low stressed so reliable. your scoob must be about 1300kg? so at 360 bhp that's 276bhp per tonne. However, if it's raining I don't think I'll bother lol

Anyway, the point was you said anyone to bring it on and that no-one has beaten you and I know a fair few westie owners who make my one look slow including one running well over 500bhp per tonne so you can't have 'met' the right people on the road/track At the end of the day, there's ALWAYS someone who's faster than you so unless you are racing properly on a track (I don't mean trackdays but proper racing series) then I fail to see what it proves as there's only so far most of us will push a car on the road or on a trackday where there are others with their pride and joys.
