Please lets not forget that there are actually genuine people on incapacity benefit.

And let me assure everyone you wouldn't want any sort of disability benefit if it meant you had to heve the disability.

Yes the scroungers need routing out, but there also needs to be a safety net for those who are genuine.

Why my post? My wife needs morphine just to get through each day after her spine was broken in a car accident.
I pay higher rate tax and have an excellent salary, if it was me on Incapacity instead of Lorraine we would have lost everything. Incapacity benefit is not some gold mine.

Cheers
Lee

For 15 yrs I have worked with TFW 'clients', some on JSA but mainly incapacity and DLA. My partner is a Social Worker and her job now-a-days seems to be maximising peoples benefits, which she has megga problems with, believe me. So dont talk to me about scroungers. Genuine cases, poss one in 20 I'd say

What annoys me is that if the scroungers were sorted out there would be massive amounts of cash available for the genuine claimant who the system was set up for in the first place. There would be enough left to assist the elderly as well.

I presume however that no government would like to preside over an increase in unemployment even though it meant all those off with 'stress' suddenly had to get off their asses.

And before anyone starts yes those with genuine stress ought to be supported as well, stress is horrendous. But stress is not a career choice or feeling pxxxed off it is a medical condition.

But (importantly) if you claim Incapacity Benefit you don't appear in the unemployment figures.

I work with a guy who claims his back is knackered, goes off for months and then tells me he is knackered cos he has filled 2 skips with rubble at the weekend and has been lumping bags of sand and cement around, call me old fashioned but if you have a 'bad back' you dont do that kind of stuff.

Im sorry but there is no way that 2.6 million are so f*cked they cant do some kind of paid work, the country of full of them, want all the stuff but arent prepared to work for it, they are being propped up by people with a work ethic who struggle to make ends meet, not forgetting Scoobynetters who have to pay a little more tax than they would do if the fckers got of their *****, allowing more mods to Japanese cars and gadgets.

Mate of mine is at it, not succeeding as yet but I am keeping my gob shut on that one.

I work for the Police, the average sick amongst support staf is 16 and a bit days a year, I took one day last year and felt guilty, my colleague had about 90 days, presumably used for labouring duties.

What is it about people that mkes them think that society is a bottomless pit that they can take and take from without ever putting anything back ?

If you are on a government training scheme like TFW, same thing.
