Did you say you're on a recirc dump valve now !!

Breathers were quite oily, particularly the crankcase breather. It may be a combo of high boost and the filter that are causing the probs. Will see how it goes now that the breathers are all re-routed to the ground.
Havent had a chance to clean out the i/c yet and am just heading out to the RR. Will run a touch extra of NF which will hopefully keeps things on the safe side.
Place your bets now for RR results

Went to PTS for RR run who use Sun rollers. Good news was that the rollers seemed to be reading pretty much bang on for std cars (std 220bhp Fiat Coupe got 222bhp). Bad news was a couple of scoob owners who ran were a bit dissapointed with their figures (2.5ltr, TD05/06-20, FMIC only made 258bhp) and the highest reading when I got there (14 out of 25 cars had run) was for a Cosworth @301bhp. Also they did not have fans for TMIC. Only one run per car as it was a shootout.
This all made me a little pessimistic as to whether or not mine would make a good figure.
Mine went on 17th (of 25) and ran with bonnet closed. Looked anxiously at the screen and it read 352bhp! Car was still pulling when the operator backed off @6548. Was well happy
Summary:
Maximum power speed: 6548RPM (117MPH in gear used)
Power @ fly (corrected): 352.7bhp
Power @fly (measured): 344.1bhp
Power @ wheels: 254.6bhp
Power loss: 89.5bhp
Max torque speed: 5989RPM (107MPH in gear used)
Max engine Torque (corrected): 294.9lb ft
Max road speed reached: 117mph
Max engine speed: 6548
Min Ambient temp: 19 Deg C
Max Ambient temp 30 Deg C
Baro pressure: 1005mb
Turned out to be the most powerful car there on the day

Am very happy. Its nice when things come together.

Nice one Bob
Carlos, As it was Bobs intention to fit an AVCR at a later date and run 2 different boost maps, I mapped it on a Dawes as it would have been very time consuming to optimise 2 boost maps via EcuTeK on the 99 JECS only for them never to be used.
In the end, the boost control was so nice on the dawes it may just get left like that !
Boost at the top end was tapering off to 1.2-1.25 bar, midrange was 1.5 bar although it is unlikely to have achieved this level on the rolling road.

Carlos: Hope Andy has answered your question
Graham: Thanks mate. Yes it drives great. Am already used to the power already. I must try and remember that the feeling of extra power doesnt last long so hopefully I'll resist going for any more (bet you dont believe that
)
Floyd: Thanks mate. Not sure if I've got to the bottom of the oil problem yet. Think the oil level is a little on the high side which cant be helping it. Gearbox saving is well underway.
AndyF: Thanks again. Drives a treat. Must be good to see your mapped cars doing so well.
Flat4: Yes its a 99UK mate. I'm sure you'll do well. SN is a great source of info for doing things right.
Stll grinning from ear to ear. My 1st time @ a RR.

best mod I reckon is to drive a Metro as a daily driver and a std Scoob on the weekend. That way the scoob will feel really fast AND the cabin quality will feel like quality
not often you get to say that.Bob
lol,, so u got a daily driver now...
makes u enjoy the scooby more when u give it a blat!!!!!!!!!
cant wait for mine to be completed to the spec i want... slowly getting there...

Now going to leave it as it is (well maybe get a scoop/undertray for summer and gearbox IF it breaks - dont want anyone jinxing it
)Bob
i think we should all realise that it is a never ending road this modding business. LOL...
i have all the bits now apart from my i/c which i have ordered... just waiting that to arrive and then will take car off road and get to work.... cant wait.
hopefully be done by end of april depending on when it can be mapped. be interesting to see what it comes out as bhp wise once on rollers.

Hey Bob, i'm sitting here jealous as ****.
Congratulations, you must be over the moon.
I have to say, i had my doubts with you sticking to the ECUTek and Dawes but i stand corrected. All that talking finally paid off when it came to crunch.
Well done!

Will be buying some 'breakdown cover' for the first time in my 4 years of scooby ownership. Then I can stop pu$$yfooting around everywhere part-throttle.
Might even pop down to Santa Pod tommorow (weather pending) and see what if I can get it into 12s.

Went to Santa Pod today. Only had 4 runs and wasn't sure about launching well on the 4.2kg flywheel. Full weight car, with 3/4 tank full of fuel, cd collection, sat nav/stereo, toolbox etc etc.
Here's how it went:
Run 1 (hit rev limiter in 3rd)
Reaction: 0.643
60ft: 1.881
330ft: 5.346
1/8 ET: 8.130
1/8MPH: 89.27
1000' ET: 10.485
1/4 ET: 12.601
1/4MPH 109.80
Run 2 (gearchanges and launch could have been better)
Reaction: 2.232 (headstart for opponent
)
60ft: 1.799
330ft: 5.252
1/8 ET: 8.035
1/8MPH: 89.14
1000' ET: 10.391
1/4 ET: 12.498
1/4MPH 110.01
Run 3 (missed 2nd gear)
Reaction: 0.653
60ft: 1.924
330ft: 5.728
1/8 ET: 8.590
1/8MPH: 87.71
1000' ET: 10.964
1/4 ET: 13.076
1/4MPH 110.61
Run 4 (bogged down)
Reaction: 0.308
60ft: 1.971
330ft: 5.433
1/8 ET: 8.180
1/8MPH: 89.83
1000' ET: 10.501
1/4 ET: 12.577
1/4MPH 112.47
None were perfect runs but was very happy netherless. Was some suprised looks from higher power cars and unsuspecting victims of the lardy UK car

Some room for improvement.

Good consistancy and not a bad launch either !
Andy
How's the gearbox
Good results Bob, well done and mission accomplished. I'd guess that to go to the next level (as you've now achieved 12.4) you'll need a lot more power, box and money...
Enjoy the car and let me catch up!

Cheers guys. Its just a reflection of the input that everybody on here has put in the car and I thank you all again.
F: Stop jinxing my gearbox....its fine
Personally think there is room for improvement and would be good to see what it gets with a good start and smooth gearchanges. No doubt it would be quicker with all the comforts removed but its my daily driver and couldnt live without all the comforts.
Maybe when (if) the time comes shorter gearing may help? but I wouldnt want to do anything to spoil the driveability. I ran against a wrx ra (non STi) with decat and filter and his times were 12.6 (best) and 12.7 (against me on my 12.5 run), so goes to show what short gearing and a lighter car can do. He looked quite shocked though as I went past him 3/4 of the way up the strip (terminals 100.24mph v 112.47mph)

Havent really given SSO much thought as I assumed mine will be rather slow compared with most there.
Would be nice to put some names to faces and to meet some old faces too.
