Thanks for all the help everyone, I drove a PPP yesterday and it was more to my liking. (I can't get a drive of an Sti locally and I'm short of time at the mo'.)

I'm still not sure but I've happened upon a Mica Red 'bug eye' 2002 UK WRX 5 door with 23K miles for £11.5K, so it looks like I'm joining the 'clan' on a trial basis.

BTW, thanks to the links/advice I could have saved £500 for a new one (£18K OTR with 12 months RFL, WRX mats and a coat).
