Going back to the theme of set up and drivers... Rob Wiles [aka Turbo-It when he had his RS500] at Oulton, Castle Coombe and Croft in his 03 Sti which only has Ecutek, uprated fuel pump & exh.. [so I guess about 320bhp, I know sweet f a about scoobs] nothing could stick with him. At Croft, even with totally shagged slicks, nothing got past him, was one of the most exciting passenger rides I have ever had He has is car totally sorted.

Ooops I think people maybe missed my point...
The point was that when modding (depending on how far you go) who does the modding and how extensive the modding goes is often far more important than the base car. [when comparing cos/evo/scoobs - obviously start with a Yugo and you've got further to go ]
The point about the extent of the mods is reflected in my comment about the F1 car. See - it all does make sense

Lynne,
I doubt very much your average 370-380hp Escos would pi55 on a type 25. Fractionally quicker perhaps, not pi55 on it.
And your average 370-380hp Escos is usually a little slower on track than a 370-380hp classic scoob. When you get both to that level, one doesn't pi55 on the other.

Steven,
But the other car was RWD you donkey!!!
You would most probably beat me in a drag run over 1/4 mile, but you wouldn't accelerate past me over 100mph.
RWD and Big BHP is a joke on drag starts.
Rolling run, RWD and Big BHP is a different story.
Regards,
Shaun.

I heard that one of MAD's Cossie Escort's clocked 178.5 mph last week and ABS mucked around on braking to produce 86m skid marks - tread from 4mm down to the wire!
Rod's Saff also had new triple plate clutch fitted last week in readiness for the fastest car comp on 7th December. Apparently Rod hopes it will beat last run of 201.8mph to reach 206mph - and there is another tuner who will be there and claims his Cossie will reach 220mph (hmm, not sure about that though).

Hi Lads
Can i correct a couple of errors on this Topic.
My 0-100 time was 7.19 not 7.55.
Three Topspeed runs were done at Brunters . Two by Mark Shead & the other by myself my run was a rather pedestrian 198.5 so will be going back soon to join the 200mph club.
I have not entered the Cossie Thrash on the 7th of December in fact its the very day that my car goes in for more modifications.
Will attempt to go quicker in the new year, with more mods & a bigger shot of Nitrous. The engine was specced for 850bhp so may use most of that next time.
The Rocket ran 205.8 down Brunters with circa 1000bhp, so i know how fast it aint going to go 204 would be nice.

Looks like I'll be even further behind it now.
Looks like I'll be even further behind it now.
At the recent Topspeed event it ran a 11.5 @ 138 on 200mph gearing & road tyre pumped to 40psi following the Topspeed run. Should run 10's next time out running shorter gearing & BFG Street Drag Radials.

ps. Is Adrian aware of what his old banger has achieved, would like to contact him.
