I had a 2.0S for 4 months while an insurance claim was gonig through, bought it off a friend of mine who was a trader for £250, used it for 4 months, sold it for £650 for teh first person who came to see it!

the car was mint, had a full ford sevice history, and had only done 80k this was on a 1984 car about 4 years ago.

If I have time I'll be posting it for sale on eBay tomorrow. For some reason they appear to be making pretty good prices on eBay

1983 'A' reg, 65,000 miles, 12 months MOT, 6 months tax
that's 2 of my old cars that have turned up in the last week It still looks exactly the same as when I sold it Should have kept it seeing what they are going for now

I'm not too sure what they're currently going for to be honest so I've decided to stick it on eBay: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...501496420&rd=1

Should be interesting to see what it goes for

No reserve eh? Hmmmm one to watch out for in 6 days time. Shame it ends while I'm at work though.

Hope you get a good price for it.. (not too good if I win it though!)

Yep, no reserve Could be an absolute bargain if I have memory loss in-between now and then...

Good luck if you choose to bid

Smile Tickford Performance

I had some questions on Tickford performance since my post so see below the performance stats from Motor 'Son of Vantage' test April 7 1984. Stacks up very well for 20 years years ago, but not in the twisty bits!
Also why don't we get performance stats like this in current motor mags?

Paul.

What's happened to 'em all? Can they be called a "classic" yet?

By the way, fully expecting a flaming here for being a Capri owner. Bring it on!! Those who didn't like Capri's were generally the ones who couldn't drive anyway.
Hey, I recognise that motor, didn't it turn up at my wedding last year

In fact I'm sure I was in it at the time

Andy

You can gain a reasonable idea as to how successful your auction is likely to be by keeping an eye of the number of "watchers" for your item.

I've just joined them, but I'm afraid I won't be bidding owing to lack of garage space and bittersweet memories of being hospitalised (the bitter bit) after rolling an ex gf's mum's (sweet ) 2.0S many years ago.

Got one sat next to the Scoob as I type, it's my third.

1. 1980 2.0S (First car)

2. 1986 1.6 Lazer (Run around)

3. 1986 1.6 (Current run around)

The third one has been known to turn up at Essex Scooby Crews' meets sometimes

I've owned 2 capris, a 1.6LS and a 2.0 lazer. Difficult to understand why Ford have never made a decent replacement for it.

Capris are great fun cars to drive.

Had a 1.6 and 2.0 laser.

The 2.0 was destriped, with 16x7 multispokes n low profiel tyres, piper285 race/rally cam, k&n filter, twin webber 45 dcoe's, ashley straight through 4 branch exhaust system. Interior was the black with white stripes recaro style from a 3.0s and had a rare rs x pack 4 spoke steering wheel with minidisc. Suspension was koni adjustables all round with lowered and uprated springs, while the rear springs were converted to single leaf and 2.8i brake drums on the back.

Stripped and sold it in the end, it was like a big hole in my pocket, and just kept breaking down. One time the car kept running out of steam, turned out the exhaust pipe was pressing against the fuel line and was slowly burning through, pretty lucky it didnt explode. Great car, looked and drove great, although the electrics were crap.

I've had 3 of them

Black 1975 MkII 1.6L (first car)
Black 1976 MkII 3.0 Ghia Manual
Blue 1983 2.8 Injection

3.0 was my fave & I learnt alot about car control with it (thru my own mistakes lol)

About Ford never making a direct replacement, I seem to remember a few articles in Autocar about the 'new' Capri, a few concept pictures and even some specs but I havent heard or seen anything for some time, if BMW can flog piles of outsize Mini's and VW can sell the pig ugly and rubbish Beetle I reckon the world is ready for a new Capri, Ford US have done a retro styled new Mustang so a new Capri, that looks like a capri, goes well and is reasonably priced would do well, oh and it needs to be RWD or 4WD, Front wheel drive would not be a Capri.

To be honest though, the Concepts looked pretty ghastly.

Jacko

Ford HAS got a new Capri.

Like a 2.8i, its a front engined, rear wheel drive coupe with a decent sized boot that can seat 4 people in comfort. It's lovely to look at, great to drive, entertaining, comfortable to tour in, and costs thousands less than its competitors.

Its called a Mazda RX8.

On top of my 6 Capris I also had a 2.0GTE Manta. Was a really nice car and behaved itself more than the Capri but where's the fun in that? Oh, it did get me pulled for wheelspinning out of a junction! What sorta law is that?
