Autocar Pictures : Fake as a 9 pound coin

I think these latest blue piccies look better than the car in red, still not sure about the front.
If you look carefully at the Autoexpress piccies the car looks like it has Xenon headlights behind the bulbous screen front!

Jonathan,
Not sure yet, but I'm not going to make any hasty decisions. I'll probably wait until some official pix appear that show the interior. The seats on the car above look fairly unpleasant, very Omega!
Hopefully these are changes aimed at the US market. They do seem to like different things in a car to us. In particular the spongy suspension.

Let's just say I'm not exactly distressed at having taken the plunge & now owning a week-old MY00 5-door - and that's without having seen the "toned down" MY01 wagon.
Off to find some real roads this weekend on the way to MTB at Coed-y-Brenin!

This blue car definitely looks like the same one spotted in Switzerland, and I have to say I like it a lot more now I've seen it close up, especially from the side.
Once it's got it's spoilers on......
Those arches are lush, and you can now see that the wheels are similar to the 98 style but twin spoked, which is no bad thing, as they are the best wheels the Scoob has ever had on as standard.
It is also possible that whilst there are no bonnet vents on this car, they may be on the final one.
The fact it is left-hand drive does not mean it is for the US though. Doesn't the whole of mainland Europe drive on the right also, hence perhaps the same car being seen in Switzerland?
It's definitely a baby Legacy RSK (or whatever it's called), but it's growing on me.....
Stef.

Well, after reading several reports fro down-under and seeing the MagX picts, I will admit I was WRONG. Doncha just hate being wrong, and having the WHOLE WORLD know about it I don't know if this one will grow on me or not. It may be more like a rash.

Scooby Regular
Anyone noticed that the front on shot has got a silver identical car just behind it in the row.
Face it guy's, your looking at the real deal here... don't deny yourselves!!
Most new models most people don't immediately like, but give it a few weeks, and you think I actually quite like it now, and the old model looks old fashioned.
Ho Hum.....
p.s all UK model turbo's are going to be badged WRX like it or not at the insistence of FHI.

After seeing the Autocar pics I was hoping that they were fake...but after seeing these I fear it's not.
Ups:
Wheels look awesome
side profile looks "muscular"
Downs:
The whole front end
The wingless boot
Door handles look like they are off an old Nissan Sentra
Josh L - Not all of us U.S. blokes like the "detuned" cars we get. We would kill for the WRX, 22b, P1, Evo, Skyline, or any of the other numerous cars we cannot get. The first $1200 I spent on my RS was stiffening up the suspension!

Probably a ****-up, but it could be a way of judging the public's reaction or a way of softening the blow.
I'm still hoping that it's a bit of subterfuge by Subaru to throw people off the scent. I mean, it wouldn't be hard to bolt on a fake front & rear set of lights. I bet I'm wrong though.

Guys, Where in the world will a left hand drive car be badged with a WRX badge? Japan, No, Oz, No. I'm warming up to the car, with a few home mods and perhaps a WRC rear wing, it'll look OK, although I think it still needs the bonnet vents to break up what looks a plain bonnet, although I suppose we have never been used to a scoop without vents(legacy owners excepted) This goes to show that colour maketh a car.
