can only agree that lots of people drive like idiots in the rain! its just taken me twice as long to get home! wot is normally 45min drive turns into a nightmare with fools sittin 200 yards from the car in front at 20mph! feckin idiots!

Really, alzheimers set in already then? You saying you cant remember how a Scoob compares to other cars you've owned?
I drive my Scoob every day and know exactly how much better the car is but that doesnt excuse the To55ers who possess very little if any driving skill on the roads.

I truly wish we had re-tests every 3yrs and a yearly eye test compulsory for the 40+ age group. Reach 70 and a yearly re-test, medical and eye test.
That way the idiots would be slowly removed or re-trained to give the rest of us a sporting chance.

Firstly we are disscussing morons in the rain and now snow not how a Scoob compares to a 15yr old van.
Secondly I wouldnt take half the corners I do in a Scoob in most others vehicles but thats just common sense.

The bit I and most like minded people object to is the pi55 poor levels of driving ability on the roads today.

Today I had the following on a short journey home from town in the rain;

I watched three cars at a mini roundabout just sit and wait for some-one to make the first move its a fecking roundabout not a guessing game.
I had an old codger just pull accross into my lane no indication just nearly took the front end off and then blames me
Last but not least some tw@t in an old red Transit who after parking on the wrong side of the road decides to pull off the pavement and missed me by milimetres due only to competitive brakes and me mounting the pavement to avoid him.

Now we all make mistakes but its amazing how rarely people say "Sorry"

Well do the rest of the world a favour and stick religously to the inside lane or better still get a bus.

It ain't up to much, but you do already have to have the medical. They start at 40 if you have and want to keep an HGV licence as well!

I'm glad I read this thread.

I came into work this morning, annoyed at the journey that had taken three times longer than normal.

They were all moaning here about people not slowing down for the rain.

Ok, I can't comment on there specific events, but I was starting to think it was me!

One bloke even reckons that you should slow down 50% on EVERY road when it's wet.
Some yes, all ?!?!!? WTF!

IMHO Olly it's getting this all pulled together that would make the difference. There's thousands of people out there who cant see properly alone. As you say the medical is a start but re-tests now that would set the cat amongst the pigeons

Supercue, I agree entirely about the poor levels of driving, and I too would welcome regular re-tests. After all, there's no other piece of heavy machinery that requires 100% concentration to avoid death or injury, yet which can be operated unsupervised by anyone who passed a lamentably basic test at some time in their past.

No reason not to, is there? You don't overtake much at 55!
