Yet again I find myself defending myself for THINGS I DID NOT SAY
Taken from the SIDC forum
ARE YOU WISE????
You are honestly trying to say that because me and my wife ('Janeybabes') were upset that we didn't get to be in a BIG convoy of Scoobs up the Golden Mile due to other people attending the meet shooting off on their own, Frank isn't going to do another BBO?
If he decides not to do it - I'm quite sure my & my wifes opinion will have had VERY LITTLE BEARING on his decision.
Before you make RIDICULOUS statements like the one above I suggest you actually bother to read ALL the posts that I have made (actually on ScoobyNet, so it isn't like I tried to be sneaky about it behind Frank's back).
If you do you will see that my only gripe was the above - due to the traffic we couldn't get to the Police presence, and because of that people did their own thing. If you HAD read my posts you would see that I'm from Newcastle upon Tyne - therefore I am unlikely to know a shortcut round the back streets to get onto the Promenade. I trust you will bother to check back on here to see any replies as you obviously bothered registering on here purely to have a go.
Its a shame you didn't bother reading the thread on ScoobyNet (where I presume you came from HERE which actually says the opposite regarding Frank & the BBO2005...
or were you too busy reading other people, slagging us off for stuff that we didn't actually say. I seem to think my wifes post used words like "sad n dissapointed"

Ive spoke to the organisers of the 'give a child a chance' appeal, and needless to say they are overwhelmed by our donation (£550.31 and £600 to come from the comapny i work for).... Their next question was 'would we be doing it again..????
As organiser of the BBO, the most annoying thing to read was 'that there was a lack of organisation' .... when you have put probably in the region of 40 hours into something...then as anybody else would feel 'it was a bit of a blow'. It was also particularly annoying as initially the police didnt want the event to go ahead, and it took several phone calls to convince them that his event would be 'organised'.
And whilst i, am happy to criticise the boys in blue for things they fail to do, on this occasion, they didnt fail, they were waiting for us, and they had put extra officers on duty, unfortunately it is 'we' that couldnt get to them ...that is a circumstance well beyond my and their control.......on that night, the stretch of road we were heading for, was probably the busiest road in the country.
For me, it was also bitterly dissapointing to read that some people who had travelled so far, didnt get to see the lights, or had to turn round ..........
and one of my primary reasons for not doing wanting to do it again.
Looking back, alot of positives came from this event, most notably that for all the hours spent on the road by our attendees, there was not one reported incident of trouble.....
For those who were able to get to/thru the lights, the impression made on the public was more impressive than the lights themselves....even if we were in smaller groups than hoped for.....on the night, traffic volume was up by 50%.
Finally, dispite any hiccups, we were lucky enough to be able to attend ....for some of the children our donations will go towards helping, they might only dream of 'seeing' a scoob, let alone sitting being stuck in one for 3 hours... and so its for them, i have decided to put my feelings aside, and look forward to >>>

Frank, I was chatting to a traffic cop at Santa Pod on sunday with a few others and he said that if you go streight to traffic, they would jump at the chance to do something like that, so rather than the main office, get put through to traffic

cheers D.K
the people i spoke to at Blackpool police, was events management....it was actually their idea to try and get us lined up on the prom ..... but looking at the feasibilty, it did not look possible. hence our option to go with halfords.....which i feel was the right decision.
We did talk about a proper police escort, but because of having to police the lights aswell, they could not put the number's of officers on to an escort it that it would need, and hence the decision to help us to get into the lights queue. (in their opinion, they reckoned on needing 4 - 6 additional patrol vehicles)
Maybe next year.

Top decision Frank. Glad you changed your mind.
You know where to come for the necessary bits & bobs for the next one, and if I can be of any help with anything else just let me know.
