I feel that it's the size of the car that's also the issue. I had loads of fun in a Metro Turbo and 205 GTi 1.9 as they could be thrown around, and felt a lot more fun than my current Scoob, even though they had a lot less power.
What I also really miss is instant throttle response - anyone that hasn't driven a VAG 1.9 TDI in GTI trim really needs to experience one...

You mean the TDi is good or bad for throttle response?

Its unlikely that the VAG TDI has throttle response to write home about. The fastest responding car I've ever driven was the VTS which reacted very quickly to throttle input

Speaking of journey times - my route home is approx 12 miles on mostly A roads.
I twice now been beaten home by the same vehicle, doing the whole journey.
I kill him on the straights, and he gets me back at junctions.

Great post, I had soooo much fun in my R5 Turbo, total go kart!! ok it would killed by the likes of an EVO 6 or something but it was great fun. However, I did use my bro's pulsar for 3 months with biggish power 340BHP and it was very usable.... depends on how the car can handle the power, think a lot of the 4wd cars are a lot more usable under big power.... or quite simply they can take a lot more power before they become un-useable???

Tell me about, was travelling to the South of France last month, fuelled up, a scooter pulls in behind us, 2 up as well, anyway, we have a quick giggle, blast off out of the forecourt, my mate on his blade and me on the busa..

A while later we pull in to refuel, a few mins later, the bloody scooter pulls in....It was a 650 Suzuki, but even so we was a bit gobsmacked!

We'd been doing at least a ton.....

PS, a 20 brake , 2 stroke scooter will do 0-60 in around 5 to 6 seconds....and have a "top end " of 70 to 80mph!!

the larger scooter's will do a standing qtr in the 13's...

Trails, good piccies, I bet the local ramblers love you digging up the woodland like that to make ramps...the lot down my way certainly do!

May have over estimated the power of his machine!

It is a knackered old thing similar to the ones that also have pedals.

Definately won't do over 40 mph with him flat on the tank, though.

You wanna get in a bike engined car then - try regulating the throttle of a busa engine with your foot when it's designed to be done by hand. Would probably rev to 11k and back to idle again as fast as it takes the scoob to go to 2k. Remember when Pete Croney jumped in the car - went to set off and just touched the throttle - revs instantly went to about 7k and he jumped out of his skin.

Most fun I've had in any of my cars was the 205 - one of the slowest cars I've owned but the most fun too. Would get out buzzing after a country thrash - and sweaty, white knuckles etc

Westie is a good compromise between speed and low power - is okayish in a straightline but isn't particularly powerful like most westies. Nippy up to about 120 then tails off, which is enough.

I had a shot of a GTI TDI, the throttle response wasn't spectacular. The spectacular thing was that the power band rendered the gearbox useless.

What's the point of six gears when the thing pulls like a train from tickover

Most Impressed.

Yeah the trails in the second pic are at Wisley Gardens(RHS), they were due to be ploughed today, v sad been there many years....if you choose your location carefully then there is less chance of any conflict. Kinda ironic cause we keep things cleaner than almost any other user
