Diazepam and Flying - Advice please !
#31
Taking 10mg of Valium is normally enough to knock me out for around 8 hours.
I would seriously trial it before you fly to see how long the effect will be. I feel very lethargic and drowsy when it wears off and that can last a couple of hours after I "wake up".

My GF and her mates bought a shed load of pharmacuticals (ketamine, vicodin, valium etc) when they were in India last year. They took valium upto about 3-5 at a time and more than a couple of times a day to relax/sleep after caning all the other drugs. She's only 5'2" and 8 stone ish and she handled them easily and never got too zonked out for long after waking up....they took a few valium on the return flights and slept like babies

It really is there as a last resort and I'm doubtful if I will take one, as not a fan of any medication. It's just a safety net in case I go AWOL and get any silly ideas about jumping out the emergency exit again

Why don't you try a sleeping medication like Temazepam rather than Diazepam?
My doctor gave me them to help me sleep as recently I have had terrible insomnia. It usually takes 20-30mg to knock me out in the same way as Valium, but I don't feel as yuck in the morning.
The Valium is only for when my back and shoulder seize up which in the last few weeks hasn't caused me any issue, so I haven't been using it.

Appreciate that this is not likely to be relevant on a flight to Sweden, but NZ may be a different story
Am i right in thinking that Diazepam is just another "word" for Valium?
