Scooby's around the Leigh area?
I haven't seen any of you around apart from Andy10.
Do any of you know about the new Shell petrol which is coming out soon? It's meant to be around 101-102RON or something like that. I'm going to ask at the Shell garage on Hunger hill on Friday night... as apparently they are putting it in the Optimax pumps allready and not specifying it.

. If mixing various petrol a lot of the time i.e standard upto 102 etc can it damage the car in any way. Not being mechanically minded in any way shape or form I thought I would ask.If its a stupid question please dont tell me.
Yourself and jay seem to be clued up on this type of thing

Nah... be reet.
The ECU maps the fueling according to the fuel grade. As long as the car isn't seriously pre-detonating (Like a Jap import ran on 95 RON if heavily tuned) it's fine.
Hell... I'm always mixing fuels. Most of the time it's Optimax... but if the fuel prices go down, or I'm skint or being tight... I opt for 95 RON.
lol. I was in my house when I've spotted you. I could always stick my arm out of the top window and initiate a wave type pattern... but I doubt it would have the same affect, lol.

Thanks for the info. I'll look for the wave out of the top window.

be fine mixing fuel, its only like adding octane booster if you put a higher octane in. Depending on the my of the car it will auto adjust to compensate, if its an earlier classic (like mine) you would have to reset the ecu (assuming its a standard ecu which mine isn't)
Hmm... spotted a left hand drive Scooby today in Leigh. It was a classic in blue, with yellow Subaru decals. It seemed to have a 22B front end... and red rally mudflaps, but was on UK plates??

I had a black L-Reg classic behind me on the way home from work today trying to have a little play. It had a lovely sounding dump valve. I don't think it was anybody on here though.

R34-gt spotted on Hamilton Street last night. Both waved. First wave in ages. Seen jay knocking around quite a lot but I've been on foot at least 100 yards away. Can hear you coming from a couple of miles
. Have you moved out of the area Mr Thompson. Don't seem to see you anymore. (Saves waving at a sport though
).

And jay's car is that loud honest. You'd never creep up on anyone with that. Thought ours was bad enough. Is it legal? Are you sure?
Nice spotting you Andy.
That dark blue Classic with the blonde sometimes driving it, with tinted back lights was pretty loud too.
I think it's had the baffle put in though.
I've got no silencers/CAT all the way through the exhaust system on mine... with a lovely jubbly Kakimoto stuck on the end without a baffle. I'm hoping it sounds louder outside than it seems to from the inside.
Has anybody tried the Shell V stuff yet? Apparently when I asked at the Shell I go to, they told me that they had been putting it in for a couple of weeks. My cars been pinking quite seriously (Could both hear and feel it) both on cold startup, and when under load for the past three weeks or so... so I expect that explains it.

I asked at the shell garage on the east lancs but he said it was september when they were getting it. Think I will stick with tesco at 95p for their 99ron, my car seems to like it, especially now that I have richened my mixture a touch.
Saw a silver classic in the tesco petrol station last night, anyone??

I got pulled a few weeks ago for overtaking an old biddy doing max 20 down Hamilton Street. Frustration got the better of me so I just overtook her on Leigh Road only to see a traffic car racing up behind me. Was summoned into his car for my b*ll*cking, was overtaken by the old biddy and drove into Leigh at 30mph. Lesson learned- I should have gone passed her on Hamilton Street
