imlach,ollyk, enough already!
I guess my post of a few weeks ago about long life food was fairly timely,ie a few weeks later a pamphlet(god i hate that word) came out sugestingitmay be a good idea to stash (and i quote)"a few pallets of water and long life food" in a cupboard just in case we have to stay indoors for a couple of weeks to avoid contamination from nuclear fallout/chemical agent/s /bio- threat etc etc
[and before some jobsworth picks me up on a detail ,it's long life so you don't have to keep replacing it ,just stash and forget.By the time you realise that you need food&water for the next 2-4 weeks the shelves will be empty/a battle ground of looting (maybe) ]
ps.corned beef can be bought with an expirey date of 2009 makes you wonder what the **** they do to it....maybe it's iradiated ,now wouldn't that be ironic

you forget that if there was a major nuke explosion or 3, there is a large chance that the EMP might wipe any computerised records of mortgages owed etc, as well as all your virtual cash.
Would have to be pretty damn big tho and in several places at the same time.

no hope - as a mortgage advisor I have to keep everything for 6 years. If I have a computer record I have to have an electronic backup and a paper backup. You should see the hoops lenders jump through. daily backups stored in a lead lined fire proof scum proof safe in a big concrete bunker inside a lead lined....etc etc
