I'm still confused why people actually BUY dvd's - legit or otherwise.
I download for free. OK I have to pay for broadband, but if I kick off a download when I go to bed, it's usually finished by the time I'm back from work. . . . .
I will buy CD's & DVD's that i want to watch over & over (LOTR being one of many), but for the one off's what's the point?

I've spent nearly £10k on Home Cinema stuff and find £10-£15 to buy and £2 to rent a very reasonable amount.
The Studio's make movies to make money (A lot of which goes towards investing in future products) excactly the same as any other industry. Downloading or copying is theft, you are stealing the makers product and it should carry the same penalty as pinching a DVD from the shelves in a shop. IMO
I wonder what would happen if we had Star Trek Style Replicators and could download a Scooby or Plasma TV. I'm sure a lot more would be done to stamp out the pirates then.
