Yes, that's because they have to pay for the over-inflated egos of the computer geeks that write the coding and think they deserve massive salaries.

I don't agree with your theorys.. but if we use what you are saying biggest rip off would be cars then, since why are we paying what £25k for a new subaru, when it must only cost what £10k???

I'm still confused why people actually BUY dvd's - legit or otherwise.

I download for free. OK I have to pay for broadband, but if I kick off a download when I go to bed, it's usually finished by the time I'm back from work. . . . .

I will buy CD's & DVD's that i want to watch over & over (LOTR being one of many), but for the one off's what's the point?

Well I buy or rent genuine DVD's because I want the ultimate picture quality and the full DD or DTS sound so I have the full movie experience.
I've spent nearly £10k on Home Cinema stuff and find £10-£15 to buy and £2 to rent a very reasonable amount.

The Studio's make movies to make money (A lot of which goes towards investing in future products) excactly the same as any other industry. Downloading or copying is theft, you are stealing the makers product and it should carry the same penalty as pinching a DVD from the shelves in a shop. IMO

I wonder what would happen if we had Star Trek Style Replicators and could download a Scooby or Plasma TV. I'm sure a lot more would be done to stamp out the pirates then.

Cheers
Lee
