When I informed Max about my duplicate set of header gaskets he promised to send the one I actually need straight away ... that'll be another 2 weeks then!

I'll probably change the car by the time this is sorted In the meantime the 355mm Brembo kit is getting installed ....... if it stops bleedin raining that is!

whereas the pack of 3 header gaskets he was supposed to be sending me, STILL hasnt arrived.... (if ever actually sent)

Hi Brad,

We have sent out all the gaskets you've told us to via AirMail (they don't have tracking unfortunately). The delivery time for these has already passed so anything not yet received I guess we will have to resend. Who is still missing gaskets? Just the 3 going to you?

Thumbs up

Actually; send them to Graham please.
Did you use OE gaskets Tel?

My headers are fitted already and not leaking (using OE gaskets) with no problems as yet.

Headers sound good dont they Tel?

I got gaskets with the headers, although in truth i don't remember seeing the manifold to block gaskets, having seen what Gruppe S sent me - i just handed the whole lot over to PowerStation!! So i assume they re-used what was already on there if they had nothing else to use. Do you reckon that would be ok, or were the OE gaskets no good, or shouldn't they have re-used what they took off? In any case, as far as i know, they're not leaking, so not complaining (yet)

The sound has more or less disappeared from the engine bay now, but has made the exhaust a lot noisier, which sometimes is good, sometimes isn't. What i *do* know, is it feels like a race-car now! As the owner of the 911 4S i played with at the weekend will testify - pull over and pretend you're not trying rather than be embarrassed...

Oh, and can Graham PM me to arrange posting of the gaskets?

yep nice isn't it Tel?

foxmod had my exhaust in his face most of sunday on the 'peaks tour'- and he laughingly told me via walkie talkie - "cant you get a louder exhaust?- its a bit quiet!!"
looking forward to seeing the video footage to hear what it sounds like from behind

if the gaskets arent't blowing - I wouldnt worry

Only another 4 months or so until mine get fitted.

But after reading some of the feedback I'm soooooooo tempted to hang the fitting plan and get them bunged on now.

Were these headers easy to fit?

Could someone please explain the basics - Number of bolts to remove, things to be aware of etc.

Thinking of doing this mod in the not too distant.....

thanks

Mark.

Brought Spencers' kit from him, so will be fitting soon. Have only got up-pipe to turbo gasket. Is it ok to re-use oe gaskets for the rest?

Markyboy uk,
The headers on their own are pretty easy to fit there are 2 bolts to the up pipe and 3 nuts on each head These headers will fit all Classics and all new age apart from the late twin scoll turbo STI's
To change the up pipe is a bit more work as its bolted to the underside of the turbo!!
Not sure if you can change it with the turbo in place.

I think the easiest way to do the up pipe is to take off the downpipe and turbo!
It's worth haveng all new nuts and bolts with some high temp anti-seize stuff on the threads when you put it all back together.
IIRC there are 5 nuts and bolts to remove the turbo from the up pipe and mounting bracket. They are very tight/stiff!!!!!
There should be gaskets between the turbo/ up pipe, the headers/up pipe and the headers to the cylinder heads.

D, just to blank off the two threaded bosses welded into the up pipe.

I have no use for the bosses. Buried in these pages are the sizes, M10 and one larger I think, so the answer is plain.
If someone has a spare for both I will buy them.
Thanks, 911

Here's my Gruppe-S version of the "Where's Wally" pictures.

Somewhere in this picture, someone has some gaskets. See if you can find them.

God, that sounds sad for a sunday morning doesn't it

I have got a life, honest.
