You can only do so much.
Even with a garage, once you have driven it out, you are vulnerable.
Its a sad world that we are living in where it gets to the stage where we have to take all these precautions just to keep our own cars.
The law seems to offer no deterant to these *******
On telly the other night there was a program about scum who drive cars without insurance etc and kill people.
One got a fine of £68 and a driving ban.
People on here get more agro over number plates, tinted windows etc.
Yes, this makes me P!55ED OFF

Calmed down abit now
But as a recent victim of a car jacking, it does make me wonder where this country is heading

You should get a cheap safe from b&q and stick your keys in it during the night, they only cost £30.00 and can be bolted to the floor.
That should stop the little ******* if they are prepared to go to the trouble of breaking in.

There are two trains of thought here...

1) Make it difficult for the ******* to find/obtain the keys, ie a safe.
They may not want the hastle and leave.

2) If they have gone to the bother of breaking into your house and ignoring your house alarm and security, they may not be the sort to back off.
If 2 or 3 people break in using force they will have some sort of weapon, be it a crowbar or a lump hammer etc. Steve has got a family. Does he really want the hastle of taking on 3 armed ******* when his family are in danger.
The alternative train of thought is to leave the keys where they can be found so as to minimise risk to the family.

There are people who use this forum who have been put in this situation (not myself).

Personaly i feel that if you can keep your car locked away in a secure garage, and your car has adequate security, and your house is secure and alarmed, that should be enough.

As i said earlier, you have to drive your car at some point......

I'd get the biggest, most protective dog (debherman) possible or get shot of the car!

Im thinking of getting a big dog because the thought of waking up in the night to some w@nker demanding my keys really worry's me!

Thieving scumbags really **** me off

I would go for the post in the drive trick. With as little room for the scoob to move. Has the car got the blackjax fitted? If it has, even if they do get it they won't get far. I'm a great believer in not putting family at risk. Couldn't give a $hit about myself but when there is other involved best to leave them to it (unless you are hard as **** )

It sounds though as if you have most avenues covered.

Its only a thought and it would only slow them down but you could always unplug the crank sensor. By the time they realise they will have been turning it over and disturbed someone if they try drive it from the house!

Hope it doesn't come to any of this though!!

Cheers

Instead of Baby monitor, for the baby I use ap pair of voice activated Walkie-Talkies from Maplin (about £30). Work a treat, adjust the sensitivity, so you don't hear snuffles just the really big screams
About 1 mile range, put one in the Scoob and the other in the house.
Recargable batteries, last a good time aswell

Steve, sorry you're still having trouble I think the baby alarm/walkie talkie idea is good, but I'd add a post of some kind although sideways movement would be awkward to prevent on your drive until those trees grow a little. I certainly stand by the security lights with alarms in them. You can get them at B&Q and have 3 of them on different frequencies, but check them out quick as they seem to be on discontinued discount and who knows whether they'll supply a future alternative.

I think they'd scarper once they notice movement in the house, and with all the warning I would hope you'd be up and alert before any damage was done. A dog as back up would be fun as a final layer of defense. Either that, or a Police Force and Justice Sysytem that could actually do something about it in the 1st place

if you haven't got a garage then park the drivers side as close as you can get to a wall, then lock the wheels into the wall, the car can't then be moved due to it being so close to the wall, its a bit of a pain then cos you've got to get out of the passenger side but that means anyone else has also got to get in through that side which you'll find they'll be reluctant to do due to lack of quick escape routes should they be seen, its very hard to do anything with the ignition with the door closed and they won't be able to open the door cos the wall is there!! saved my cars loads of times over the years.

What about something like this? http://www.sutcliffeelectronics.co.uk/page6.html

This one is particularly for trailers but you get my drift.

May not be suitable for those living near oilfields though as a strike is possible digging the hole to place it in!!

Thanks for all the advice guys. Done a few things - Some police 'Keys secure' stickers on the way from the WYIOC (Thanks Al ).
Have checked that my tints are attack resistant (& they are to a point) which comes in handy as an excuse if I get asked to remove the fronts .
Chatted to the Polis liason & they've noted it.

The dilemma above is one most of us face. Last time when some scumbag got in I was on the way down to practice my Baseball technique without too much thought, they scarpered B4 I got there, but I probably should've taken the keys with me to ensure they wouldn't need to go anywhere else if I was outnumbered or out-weaponed!
I think the decision is that I've now made it pretty difficult to get into both car & house so if they want it that badly then I'm not going to risk physical harm to me or anyone else.
I realise that my family has to come first & my hobby second. Also the car is replaceable (Although it would take some doing to repeat all the mods) so ultimately if they are determined enough then it'll go without a fight (Albeit not very far ).
That said - I'm presently trying to get in hold of a M8 who used to live nearby, shouldn't be messed with & put it round to the locals that my last car was not to be touched, so ways & means!!!
Steve taking a chill pill & humming que sera sera

Thumbs up

its sad that in the world today we can not sleep with both eyes closed incase of situations like this occur. I too am paranoid even with v good security on the car, garage and house, its times like this when you think is the scooby worth it and I often say they are a great car to drive but not to own! and then I get into it and think yeh its worth it. I hope everything ends up with a bit paranoia stevechaps, and get talking to that lad you mention!

good luck

Obviously it would be off to one side leaving enough room for the car
