WR1 in Auto Express's Top 25 performance cars of 2004
#182
oh no will it ever stop now ?
i can remember when i got my car i got flamed as eliteist etc etc but in the end I just kept quiet enjoyed the car. Now I still enjoy the car but can talk a bit more freely about it.
At the end of the day the WR1 is the best UK sourced scoob out there
(at the moment) there are better ones but they are imports. Everyone who has a WR1 will im sure enjoy it,

I'm still a doubter about your car Hawkeye if it makes you feel better? I mean it's just a dealer modded STI right? What was the controvesy? Claims that it was some secret squirrel official UK import?

Are non-WR1 owners obsessed with sniping at those that do?
Only a select few seem to criticise the WR1
would I have one ,yes and no
The price is a bit off putting £30k is a lot of money and having never owned a Scooby it would have been a no no to spend that much.
Having only just bought my first Scooby a few months ago I think its a fantastic car and knowing what I know now the £30k could have been justified....
As there are only 500 WR1's I'll have to buy a Type 25 when I next change LOL

on the subject of Do you believe the WR1 is the 10th best performance car of 2004?
don't think anyone on Scoobynet is in the position to judge what the performance car of 2004 is ,unless someone's driven all the performance cars that have came out so far in 2004

All i know is, that IF I was after a new shape car and i wanted top of the range i wouldnt waste my time comparing the likes of the wr1 and type 25 with a lowly standard wrx.
If you think that is a contradiction, then you need to re read what i have posted. No goal posts have been moved at all, if you want a comparison between the wrx and a wr1 then ask somebody else. Ive only said *I* wouldnt personally bother comparing them as they are as different cars as chalk and cheese.

Either you haven't read the thread to know that, and jumped in with your opinion anyway, or you're just seeing how many deliberately stupid posts I'll reply to.
Well, this is the last one. For now.

In answer to 1st question:- I only joined scoobynet since ordering my WR1 so thought that was the obvious user name.Didnt realise it would upset people or make them try and belittle people
In answer to 2nd question:- Not in a position to answer as I have not drove all the rest.(Same as yourself I would imagine).
Cant comment on cars I have not drove
I ask my question again.Have you drove a WR1?

Again have you drove a WR1 because you seem so able to have an opinion on them

My opinion on a Wr1 is that it's a little overpriced, it has trouble matching the claimed performance figures, it's a grim colour, it offers a little bit extra over an STI PPP in terms of DCCD, it has a hideous metal grill.
Like I've said before - biggest problem I have with WR1s are the owners.
No I haven't driven one - a WR1 isn't and won't ever be on my shortlist of desired cars as it doesn't (IMO) excel in any one category and as a package falls short. You could argue how can I make that judgement without driving one - in ways I can't but I can't see any reason in that car to temp me into Subarus again and I know even though handling wise it'd be better than my old STI, it'd fall short in other areas, leading me to start modding again to change it into the car I would want. In that respect, a T25 would be much better for me. Again, IMO. For £30k (on a road car) I'd rather have an M5 (by a long way) an M3, a Spec C if refinement was low on priorities or a T25 if it was high, an FQ340 as it does everything (performance wise) a little bit better etc.
Chuck,
Thanks for doing what I wanted to

Likes CHILDREN - you lot are sick how you twisted that comment. You should all be locked up.

It obviously means something if people like you get so wound up about it lol. Talk about defensive
PMSL WHAT???? You lot should be locked up? WTF are you on. YOU make some totally stupid and insulting comment at davyboy, it's fired back at you by others and they should be locked up? Are you for real? How did they twist the comment? It's your bed, you lie in it and don't start blubbing when things don't go your way.
People like you TOTALLY reinforce my opinion of WR1 owners.

My point was made when you admitted that you have not had a go in a WR1.
Now lets try and return to being adults and not children throwing insults around the playground.

Not me that's single minded - I've got an open mind about all cars - seems you're the one with blinkers on
Haven't actually seen you do any slapping - you just post some weak self justification or poor insults because you're so defensive.
Can't be 4rsed to post on here anymore - will leave you to it as you're doing a grand job of showing what a **** you are
