Dudes, Just a quick one, I have put these blue chaps from Halfords into me side lights and the things are still yellow.
I think it is the plastic that is actually tinted slightly yellow!!
Dunno, might be wrong but when viewed with headlights on, they are still yellow.

OK,
I've just spent the last half-hour replacing both my headlight and sidelight bulbs with the Philips VisionPlus and BlueVision jobs. I also cleaned the lenses with some window cleaner after fitting.
Can't say I'm overly impressed, so I took these pics for your opinions.
Dipped Beam + Sidelight (camera flash on)
Dipped Beam + Sidelight (no flash)
Main Beam + Sidelight
Main Beam + Sidelight + PIAA spots
Must say the sidelights appear whiter, but certainly not blue and do appear to look yellow. Must be the tint in the sidelight lens.
Also the passenger sidelight came out pretty easily, but those rumours of the driver side one sticking were true. I found that standing behind the light and pushing it out worked a whole lot better than pulling the thing. Had much more control and it popped out without damaging anything.

Fitted my new Vision Plus bulbs and Blue Vision sidelights the other day and had a good cross-country thrash last night. Must admit I'm impressed with the difference in power and they look pretty good too. Top recommendation!!

Drove to work this morning and when I parked the car in front of the building I noticed in the reflection that one of my new sidelight bulbs had blown
Anyone else had problems? Hopefully it's just a one off.

I have now got my lights as follows vision plus headlights blue vision jobbies in the side silver vision indicator bulbs and now some ss cibies .the vision plus are definately better and good value I use a lot of country roads and very close tree lined roads so I got an immediate benefit the side lights and indicator bulbs are just for show but I opted for the cibies as well because the roads I drive on really do need something. If I was only driving around lit areas I probably wouldn't bother the only problem with spotlights is when you dip the lights you really notice it.I wont put high wattage bulbs in after endless troubles with other cars I had melted wiring and reflectors which now would mean a new headlight unit ouch!!

Well, the very nice people at Powerbulbs are sending me some new sidelight bulbs. Top service again.
Now all I need is the repeaters and indicators sorted.

My wife just bought a '99 and we were surprised at how poor the headlights are.
I was going to put a pair of 100/80s in (most of other cars are running with these), but having read this whole thread, it seems that a significant number of people have been having problems with the connectors welding themselves to the bulbs.
Is the accepted answer to use Philips VisionPlus, or is there anything better? (FWIW, the car has PIAAs.)

Must say that I put vision plus bulbs in the standard MY94 lamps and saw a bit of an improvement but not much. tis the reflector design methinks. With the quads, wow, they do make a difference, even on dipped beam, think this is down to two factors, 1) vision plus bulbs, 2) better reflector/lamp design (morette uses cibie optics)
if only there was a reflector upgrade, would mean that people would not need to have the quad look if they don't like it.

I've got 100/80 bulbs in at the moment - don't know if they've welded them selves in, I haven't had them out since. I did have a problem with the standard bulbs when I changed them - one of conectors was stuck fast + I ended up breaking the bulb changing them! Maybe it's the connectors that are pants?

I fitted some Halfords standard watt but Xeonon gas 30% brighter bulbs last night...
They are a lot brighter making the side lights look yellow and the light made on the road ahead is definitly brighter but I have only driven it in town (street lamps) since last night.
I am off to Whitby tonight so I shall see if there is an improvement...
Last week with a little bit of dirt on the front lights a car coming the otherway on the dual carrige was enough for me to not be able to see the white lines... not good.
