I have indeed been to see him. He's in remarkably good spirits. He’s grazed and bruised in many places, and obviously his arm is bandaged up. He considers himself lucky to have escaped with the injuries he has and is fairly pragmatic about the whole affair. Al on the other hand is quite taken with T5NYW’s idea of inviting the ****** to a meet and using five cars with ropes……….!!
Seems the ****** may get done for robbery and several motoring offences – time will tell, but I sincerely hope he gets a few more things pinned on him like he deserves.
I only just made it before end of visiting time, but managed to stop on after as well, so Greg didn’t have time to read through the great wad of posts from everyone on here, but I’m sure it’ll cheer him up when he does – it was nice to have such a large amount of posts and support from peeps on here.

I look forward to reading a post from Greg when he’s out.

Greg,g is home

Thanks for all the concern and well wishes on here.
I cant say too much on here about exactly what happened, as it is now a police issue

Alison has said she will look after my every need, so there's always a bright side

My arm now has a plate in it which i believe is there for good.
Its not a modification i had planned on
But i have got a WR blue plaster cast

I am just going to check the SIDC site.

Greg and alison.

Just spent the afternoon with T5NYW ... tony and his wife ann, who came up to visit me from hereford.
You know, its the good people on here that make owning a scooby that bit better.
Anyone who knows me and alison will know that we love our car. But its the freinds that we have made over the last 2 years,
and the social side of ownership that makes me want to keep the car. It would be very easy to cut our losses and run.

As far as i know, my gearbox is knackered, but i havent seen the car.

It will be taken to scoobyclinic next week for them to work there magic

It just jar's on me that i will have to claim on my own insurance for the privalige of having my arm broken and car physically taken from me

The justice system in this country really needs looking at

When people can sue mac dons for burning there mouths on hot coffee, but others who are real victims of crime get bu@@er all.

I will be contacting the citizens advice bureau on tuesday , and may be able to claim some money back from the motor insurance bureau.

Anyway, moan over, and thanks for all the support.

Glad you're back home now Greg The things some people do to get out of being the designated driver (kidding ))

I know what you're saying about the insurance side - just take some refuge in that fact that you'll be able to recoup some of your insurance premium on getting the car sorted. You never know what else ScoobyClinic might find wrong with it - hybird turbo, FMIC etc

See you soon though

All the best,

Dan

Hi Greg & Ali.

I was totally appalled to read about your attack, I'm disgusted at the state of society these days. I hope you are recovering from your injuries, and I hope the mental scars of your ordeal end soon.

You might remember me, I had the silver Scooby, then the black Evo 4. Well, it was stolen off my drive last month and recovered in Dudley with very little damage. Although it was great having the car back it was a worry that my cat 1 alarm/immobiliser (Clifford Concept 300) was no deterrant for them, so I have sold the Evo now and gone for a less obvious sporty car - a Honda Prelude.

Obviously, I hope your car is returned to you in perfect condition and you continue to enjoy your scooby motoring!

Best wishes to you both, I hope the 4rseh0le who put you in your current situation gets the full force of the law.

Greg

Glad you're back out of hospital but sorry to hear about the reasons that got you there

Regarding your financial losses, you should be able to claim off the Criminal Injuries Compensation Fund. May not cover all your costs but should go some way to helping them.

Visit a reputable Personal Injury specialist Solicitors, preferably a member of APIL (Assoc of Personal Injury Lawyers) for a chat about the avenues open to you. Please avoid "panel" solicitors or "claims direct" type companies and find a specialist.

All the best

Puff

Unhappy Keep your chin up...

Greg,

It's fast approaching a year since I suffered a similar attack. Fortunately for me, I managed to get away without them harming either myself or my wife. We hope you are feeling a lot better and just wanted to say that our thoughts are with you at this time.

If you haven't already, you will get over it and your life will return to normal. These events are still VERY rare, but we have better communications these days so stories of doom and gloom reach a much wider audience than they used to.

What ever you do, don't sell the Scoob. I almost did and I would have regretted it if I had! I hope the scum are prosecuted and get the maximum sentence...

I started this thread a couple of hours after it happenned to me...

Good luck and keep us posted about any further developments.

Mark.

Wuss
I remember reading that thread and thinking oh my god
A different tactic was used on me at 1:30pm.
At this stage i cant say too much for legal reasons.

PTMW
I was talking to the police a couple of hours ago, and they told me about the criminal injuries compensation fund. Thanks for the advice.

And Ant
Of course i remember you
I had heard about the troubles with your evo. Its such a shame when us law abiding citizens are forced from ownership by thieving little scumbag sh!theads who contribute nothing to society and who think they can take what they want

Hi Greg,

With reference to above, just want to let you know what happened to me a few years ago.

I have an unfortunate habit of racing motorbikes A friend who runs an Aprillia dealership in Spain was short of a rider for a regional race at Valencia, and asked me to ride for the weekend. I thought I'd do it for a laugh, had never ridden Valencia and it was a relaxed weekend, nothing to competitive. I don't really get on with big V-twins though, doesn't suit my riding style, and of course red-mist comes down and I ride harder than I should on new bike and new circuit

Result: end up sitting in middle of racetrack with my leg bending 90 degrees out halfway up my thigh

Off to the local hospital for some top quality medical treatment (puts our hospitals to shame ) and had my femur plated from hip to knee. The doctor at the hospital told me to have it taken out after 2 years, to help avoid aches and pains. Upon returning to the UK, went to my local hospital for some treatment and walking aids (had also broken all ligaments in shoulder so had no use of left arm and therfore couldn't use crutches!). The consultant at the hospital then told me that my metalwork would be left in for life. I was a bit confused by this, having been told by the Spanish that they would take it out after 2 years?!? I quizzed my consultant about this every time I went for a check up, and he ended up admitting (he was a top bloke!) that under the NHS system they would not take it out as it was not an essential operation, and we all know how pushed the NHS are. He also said that the spanish prognosis was indeed correct, and to help avoid future problems it should be taken out, and then told me he would sort it out that 2 years after accident when I complained about it really hurting he would arrange for an operation to remove it, as that was the best thing.

Anyway, this has been a very long winded way of saying that in my case it was medically better to have plates taken out, even though the NHS would not admit to that at first, and it took some real nagging to get it done. I'm no doctor however, and obviously your particular damage may be a different case!

Sorry to read what happened though, that really sucks, and I'll echo all the other posts now by saying how discusting it is that people like all of us on SN who work hard for our scoobys are shat on by crims like the people who did that to you.

Wishing you a speedy recovery

Matt
