Oh and Bluto I hardly think that owning a 13 yr old BMW and a chavtastic phase one Impreza gives me any boasting rights. As I said earlier in the thread I don't give a toss about image, thus my choice of cars. Try reading the whole thing and actually understanding it if its possible for you, you'll look less of a pr1ck then.

 

The thing is not all stereotyping works. Not all Impreza owners are Chavs. Look at the Escort RST prime chav haulage but I know a guy who has spent a blinking fortune on his and it looks all but standard and he is by no means a Chav.

Also, I don't get the bit about the E30 M3? Possibly one of the best drivers cars ever built and certainly one of BMWs finest creations. Whats wrong with owning one? If I had space, time and money it would be used soley for weekends to the 'ring!

 

The point about the E30 M3 is that image wise that the non-cogniscenti just see some old BMW with the steering wheel on the wrong side. There is nothing wrong with owning one, it's a privilege.

Likewise when they look at my Impreza they see an old cheap japanese estate car.

The point being that the image of both these cars isn't say as 'impressive' as a brand new SUV. However both are far superior to any SUV on the market (IMHO) in terms of driver reward and enjoyment. In addition to this they were both bought at pocket money prices with no finance whatsoever.


Nobody said (I think) that all Impreza owners are chavs/baseball cap wearing neds/fat old men with erectile dysfunction. However that's the profile most people think of these days when picturing the average Impreza driver.

The key is not to give a toss what others think, just enjoy your Impreza for what it is- unless of course you bought it for posing/bragging rights because it hasn't got any.

 

and if you can raise a few hackles, troll a few threads and then backtrack when no rises to the bait/actually gives a toss what you think, then so much the better, mr nacro

 

The thing is, there MUST be *some* Scoobynet users who fulfill the Chav baseball-wearing description, as i see quite a few most weekends down Sarfend seafront. Maybe it's just an Essex thing!

From the evidence I saw in Essex there are plenty of baseball cap wearing chav types driving Imprezas- most of them sported scoobynet/SIDC stickers on their cars but have remained blissfully unaware of this thread or perhaps feel unable to rebutt the accusations because they are all true.

I live in an 18th Century apartment in the South of France overlooking the mountains- I get this for free through my work as a paper delivery operative, or perhaps through my job at a mutlinational oil company. I imagine it hurts to realise just how superior my life is to your sad existance scoobytc.

Ok lets recap-

I live in the South of France, earn a 6 figure sum, live in a bourgeois 6 bedroom historic apartment overlooking the mountains and Chateau which I get for free along with all associated bills, don't pay UK tax, get 35 days a year paid holiday as well as double the bank holidays of those in the UK. I holiday extensively throughout Europe, taking full advantage of my geographical position. I also have a nice portfolio of property in the UK which pay for some of my more esoteric hobbies.

These material advantages are just the tip of the iceberg, in addition to these I'm demonstrably smarter than you having beaten your metaphorical *** up and down this board in a similar way to some other saps I can mention.
