Somedude provides an accurate assessment of the situation. Shame only myself and he know we are not one and the same.

Still I love the air of uncertainty and doubt we have here now.

BTW i haven't claimed to be fluent in French nor the languages of the other countries I work in. I do however make an effort unlike most lazy English pigs I meet.

Obviously I know its not essential to speak the local lingo but for someone of your esteemed intelligence surely this would be below you to live somewhere and expect them to speak English for you?
Why? Why couldn't he just have some French Serfs do all his dirty work? Typical post from a commoner

Now we are getting somewhere jye, I can feel the love from here, don't you prefer this to all the backbiting and nastiness?

I'm starting to think you aren't such a bad egg after all what with all the drug abuse and alcohol consumption I imagine we could have a reasonable night out on the p*ss together. Once we'd had a punch up that is

Nacro, I know you didn't claim to be fluent in English. Hence why I thought it would be ultimately sad to challenge you on it. Yup, you do try.

My French might be slightly better, but I'd be pasted by someone like Claudius (who is German BTW), so there you go. And your English is quite amazing, hats off ...

We might be the same, but I guess there's about a 1000 km between us physically (which means you have rain at the moment, and I don't )

Craig, has Hippy quit smoking yet ?

Lol@somedude

I'd hope to be fluent in English, although I admit I'm not technically very good. Maybe I'll try to improve it when I retire. Perhaps TEFL in some disadvantaged country.

Eddscott you don't get it do you I don't use babelfish or you get the kind of nonsense you've come up with. LOOK AT THE TIMESTAMPS DUMBO. Also insults don't always translate straight from English to French in babelfish you gross connard.

Nacro... top tip: Les Inconnus

Brilliant lyrics, hilaric really, try it. One of the funniest French bands ever.

"A cinq ans et demi j'avais déjà ma Ferrari
J'pouvais pas la conduire, biens sure, j'étais trop petit"

It's about being a "chav" in the outskirts of Paris... (Auteuil, Neuilly, Passy)

(without doing a google, so there might be some spelling errors)

Done a Google now and... http://www.bide-et-musique.com/song/1698.html

Don't you enjoy a punch up to clear the air?

I've had some serious scraps with chaps that have turned out to be my best friends.

Why wouldn't I want to clear the air with you jye? You aren't small or crippled are you?

Or is it that you regard yourself as a 'big lad'- I've taken a few Basque behemoths down at the gym myself, being 6ft 4, albeit weighing only 90 odd kilos.

Still this dialogue at least has an air of civility about it I rather enjoy.

LOL- I prefer "peuple de l'herbe"

and some parts of Neuilly are rather bourgeois (I know I used to live in the 17th nr Porte Maillot) although those poudre smoking folk from the banlieue are rather chav-tastic in their sportswear and white socks.

No I have never had any problem with using violence NACRO, but always as a last resort. And it should always be a last resort, can be nasty when you start enjoying it and it gives me no pleasure. It's really knowing when to stop when you start. I'm 6' 2 btw, so less tall than you. Not that size ever matters.

Carry on

Too true but if you don't enjoy it then what's the point. When I go to the gym, like anyone, I have good days and bad days, if I come out with my nose a little flatter than when I went in I still enjoy myself. Where's the fighting spirit of the scots. Surely it's better to play the game than be afraid?

So you agree a ruck then a pint? Maybe one day.

>>although those poudre smoking folk from the banlieue are rather chav-tastic in their sportswear and white socks.

That's exactly what the song from "Les Inconnus" is about.

Et moi? Et moi?
Tu ne sais pas quelle est ma vie ?
A côtoyer Chantal
Ou bien Marie-Sophie
A faire le baise-main
A des pétasses mal baisées
Enfin, j'ai voulu dire
A des filles un peu coincées...
Good thing there is no filter on French here

You are doing a very good effort to learn the language BTW (no cynical smiley, yes you do make mistakes, but that is utterly besides the point) and I admire you for that.

If I didn't make the effort then what would that say about me? If there is one thing I truly despise it's the arrogance of some anglophiles in foreign lands, insisting on speaking English, the ignorant pigs.

I must say though I couldn't do this in written French, the standard is truly appalling, I do however undertand almost all of what is said to me and can reply to most things in "French like a pigeon" according to my less kind colleagues.

Still I'm learning Spanish as well at the moment and most of learning time goes there, after all I've got an incentive as I'm seeing a girl from South America currently.

Being vulnerable (read, I'm not 100 % sure), in the meaning of the song, it means to be "side by side with". Being amongst, next to, those "pétasses"

"Côte-à-côte" ?

I might be totally wrong though.

The French language is almost as rich- if not as rich - as the Engriesh one.

And sure, it takes ages to understand the nuances etc... as it does for me. (and I still sound like a lousy furriner on here, so there you go...)

Anyway, buy the goddamn CD of the Inconnus (don't download it !), it will guarantee you hours of fun.

Craig, I did notice the "95 %'", but I'm gobsmacked by the fact that I was "found out"
