Peter,
Just trying not to offend m8
My B4 is in a competitive weight class to your GT-R, esp. with me driving it I'll be doing some track time soon and will get back as the S-03 shod car will be there too (although he is running some ECU and sus mods while mine is basically std).
Cheers

Hi Adam
I've just got back from having a new set of tyres fitted, and my tyre dealer had loads of SO3s in stock and they definitely said pole position on them.
I was also very lucky,I managed to get their last ever set of SO2 PP which had been reserved for another customer, fortunately for me, the tyre place didn't realised their mistake until after I'd paid for them.He He

Amazed that this one is still going.
In 40 or 35 profile, SO3PP are the best road tyres out there, end of. Toyo are a close second.
I would not recommend fitting SO2s now as it is a deleted tyre and will become more and more difficult to find. Were you to damage one, you will either have to use unmatched tyres or replace all 4.

So S03 aren't the best for 50 profile, or have you just not tried them? What do you recommend for 205/50R16? I suspect I will need some new boots early in the new year and have loved my S02s, but have been put off the S03 a bit by some of the comments here and may opt for Eagle F1s instead.

IIRC, simon de banke was quite anti the SO3 in the beginning but the difference was he had only used the 16 inch tyre iwth a 50 profile. I think petes comments were indeed specific to the 35 or 40 profile because that is all he has tried.
nice one pete.

WADR the new tyre is fine.
I have to wonder if the major critics (and they are experts, which I am not) if they have ridden on them when well bedded in (700 miles-ish seems to be a number that comes up), and properly inflated (to reality specs vs. maker's #s).
I fully expect to be roasted by a bolt of lightning from the gods of Scoobynet, but I am perplexed by the vitriol as most people who have had them for any period of time work out they need some more pressure than the std. numbers and work darn well in most conditions (as witnessed by the few who have had the guts to stand up and be counted).
I love them (and they are now on a mate's car now that I drive regularly) - they are a better NVH proposition than the sticky RE-01s I have, but don't lose out much at all on grip.
I am sure there will be better tyres released - that is *almost* a certainty (like computers and OSs ). But of what we have here and now, IMHO the S-03s look like the best balance of very high performance in all situations (and I will repeat what I said in an earlier post: the other Japanese makers are regarded as also rans over here - they may have high dry perf, but almost always lose out when the conditions deteriorate).
Forgetting the flame suit, running for the bomb-shelter!!
