Grottbags argue all you want about how I have worded it, I am trying to get across here that in my opinion this woman can't have been of sound mind and then all of a sudden decided to cook a baby out the blue. She has to be severely disturbed to do such a thing. However you want to look at it she should not have been in charge of a child. Symptoms of mental health must have been present for her to do such an outrageous act, you don't go from sound mind to seriously messed up in the head in a split second. The system has failed both the baby and the woman who did this.

As for depression there are different levels of depression and I would certainly not be happy leaving the care of a child in the hands of someone who is acutely/severely depressed compared to somone who is suffering mild depression. Also with depression the actual cause of the depression causes people to behave in different ways. Mine was grief due to a death. Other causes of depression may for example result in violence. This is where the system plays such a vital role and is so important that it works efficiently. Unfortunately the system doesnt appear to work very well at all.
