This is exactly how all the evo 7's and 8's FQ,s are done,as an after registration modification.
No probs with the ins companys at all.
They have them listed as seperate models.

I agree with MTR's comments about listing the PPP-equipped car on the insurers' database - it may indeed make insuring the car a great deal easier and cheaper. Plenty of insurers run screaming and start quoting silly numbers as soon as they hear the word 'modified', yet they're quite happy to quote on cars which are 'standard' yet a higher level of performance. Try getting a quote for a WRX which has been upgraded with an exhaust, remap, strengthened engine internals, suspension kit, new interior and a big spoiler and you'll get laughed at. Get a quote for an STI and they'll be much more reasonable. It's a flaw in the system.

It seems all we need to clarify is that the insurers' database includes the spec of a completed WR1, rather than the nameless STI-derived base car that gets originally registered. Given that you can't buy this car (except as an import, under a different name), that seems a reasonable assumption. If quotes for the WR1 are higher than those for a standard STI of similar declared value then that would confirm it.

Simon, could you also inform L+V. They STILL don't have it listed.

And Tesco think it has 2 doors, and Elephant think it's a 5 door hatchback.

Blobster - waiting for delivery date and the anticipation is killing me.

My understanding is that only the WRX STi Type UK and WRX Sti WR1 are models listed on the Subaru UK website. The WRX STi Type UK PPP is an optional upgrade that can be added but is not a listed model which is why it would not appear on an insurers database and the WR1 would.

My current broker who has insure my MY 98 PPP since 2000 has just refused to quote for the WR1

Direct Line quoted me £980

Cheapest I have found so far is elephant.co.uk at £712

Any other ideas gratefully received

Also when getting an online quote some ask which of the RAC Trackers are fitted on the car, anyone know?

Regards

Robin

Robin give Schofield Insurance a call and ask for Tom (aka RUM*) he knows all about the WR1 Trackers etc. and will be able to give you a competitive quote.

Brian I tried to go and talk to Mitsubishi about the FQ330 but they didn't want to serve me. The quote was "I'm sorry I have to deal with something else first" ... don't have my £33,000 then!!

Am also considering a different car as I have had it with getting bullsh!t excuse after bullsh!t excuse for not getting my damn car which I ordered at the beginning of Jan.

A very pi55ed off Gangsta

With respect Ant/Gangsta, you're both making points that can only really be answered by your dealer.

I'm sure I recall though that the sales contracts for these cars didn't specify delivery dates, so while it's a pain not to know for sure, I'm not sure the lack of a firm date, or indeed that someone who ordered after you has already got their car, is sufficient grounds to claim breach of contract.

dont think anyone is going to breach a contract, just fed up ! LOL !

Subaru seem to have lost the plot with regards to delivery of a new car to customers that ordered many months ago.

Its not the Dealers at Fault as they only recieve their information from Subaru.

Gangsta looks like you and me at www.evocity.co.uk then !! LOL !!!

Greasemonkey ... it's not right when people order in Dec and Jan are not getting any credible information about when they are going to get a car and then somebody who orders in March get's there car within 4 weeks. Something is very very wrong there.

I was told to sell my car in March, which I did (at a loss), and the date has kept being put back since then - I've been carless and informationless since March.

I was told numerous times by Subaru that I would get my car in April. Now it's May ... it has to end somewhere.

Best thing is I can go and buy an EvoVIII FQ330 and pick it up within two weeks!!

Something is very wrong with this situation!
