My sympathies - they are really dragging this out, and having promised a reply today they should stick to it.

Good luck

Sounds a bit ominous

Still got the name of a good solicitor if you need it - hopefully you don't.

Unhappy

Jesus - who are you working for? They sent you a text? What kind of company is this? Don't they even have the decency (or the *****) to call you and let you know what is going on? Tim these guys do NOT deserve your time / efffort or employment. I hope things work out for you, but if they don't I would strongly consider taking puff's advice and take them to a tribunal.

Sti555- Your legal case should be up and rolling by now and you should have taken the lead in this appalling saga.

If nothing else at this point it would highlight just how unprofessional the company has been in dealing with this and without doubt, I'm sure, leave them trembling, knowing that they behaved in this manner and have now been rumbled.

Any company that sends a text for an issue like this isn't a real company.

Challenge the fools now.

I know it's easier said than done so good luck.

555,

I assume that, with time on your hands, you have had the good sense to keep a log of all events to date in this sorry saga? If not I would strongly suggest you get cracking now (unless I have missed that aspect from your post).

Don't comit anything to memory; a few boozy nights and the fine detail tends to disappear.

I wish you good luck with your saga; however I can't help feeling that you wll have to resort to legal action sooner rather than later.

WB

PS This is getting to be like an episode from Dynasty. All you need is Blake Carrington to deliver your letter tonight and you become a superstar (only joking).

wackybanana!
Have kept a log of all their communication.... in 1 month I have had a grand total of:

1 letter
1 meeting
1 Phone Call - Unrelated to the issue
1 Text

Have also got my scriblings and this SN thread for reference!

Perhaps the next episode will involve a high speed chase, involving some great gun fights or sword action!

Evenings Update:

No letter delivered this evening as expected.... ARGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHH!

Tommorow I will be off to the local IT recruitment agency, (contingency plan)... here is the twist the person I'm seeing incidently used to work for my company but took them to tribunal for unfair dismissal and won!.

The legal action is on hold, I'm ready to react to their actions accordingly, not much I can do at the moment legally as I'm still getting paid as normal for doing nothing.

Anyway watch this space...

Just had a letter hand delivered, states they are still investigating everyones statements due to the amount of extra information I gave them in my 9 page statement last Wednesday.

The final decision will be made by the 15th May 2004!!

Quite funny as it's on my word formal letter template!,

sorry but got to say: wtf, ffs etc etc

Beer time me thinks, oh well they have just doubled the amount of correspondence

15th May?

Friday week?

How many employees in your company? At the site? Any other site?

Whilst you have another 10 days to go, I suggest that you move up the tempo and actually contact a lawyer and see what they say. There is "reasonable behaviour" and there is taking the P & I know what I think this is. It may be that a timely letter from the lawyer might expedite matters for the sake of a couple of quid.

Is there something with regards to this type of process in the company proceedures book?

Either you are winding us up big time or these guys/your managers are several pence short of a pound in their dealings with you - especially as it concerns such a trivial matter, reported by a junior staff member (contractor?) and it is costing them a LOT of money to try and replicate what you do and cover your job. It is NOT logical.

Sounds to me that they know they've made a BIG mistake. They know that if they say you were right - they lose face. If they say you were wrong - you can take them to a tribunal (and wipe the floor with them). Therefore the easy option is to let this drag on in the hope that you will just resign - saving them a lot of money. It depends on how you are feeling - if you are happy to wait I would make the bast***s sweat a bit (assuming they are still paying you)

I've heard of people being sacked by text, but I think it is the lowest of the low - the most cowardly and offensive thing a company can do. Communicating by text over an issue such as this is equally bad. If you don't want to make tough decisions, don't become a company director.
