Jealousy is a strange thing. It is caused by an inferiority complex. When someone suffers from this complex(and many many people do), they are aggressive because that is their form of defence. They wantt to say to you "hey i'm just as good as you are mate, and don't think you are better than me because you have a nice car etc., and to prove it I will give you abuse or beat you up."

Its very sad that is the way it is going. It is the cause of road rage and much more.

Black cat has ably demonstrated his jealously in his posting here. Why should the fact that soemone else is rich bother you??

This is slightly connected with sourob's original post, but something that really winds me up is when you go to fill up at the petrol station and then pay you have to queue up for ages because people treat petrol stations like bl***y supermarkets, you see some of them with a week's worth of food and lottery tickets etc....Ooh it makes me angry.

A friend of mine overtook at car at night in the country. It was a safe move but the guy behind him took objection to it. The guy then overtook him (he aint got a scoob - it was a long time ago) and forced him to stop and got out of the car.

My mate was then confronted with this angry thug. My mate, not being easy to alarm just stood there. The guy then pushed him.

As it happend my mate was a marine and when he got pushed he decided not to be so nice. He decked the guy and went to his car, removed the car keys and threw them as far as he couldnt into a field of grass. He then proceeded with his journey. Leaving the thug with a bloody nose and a stranded car at night.....

Thanks for the chat at Bentley. I'll try and come to your meet on the 2nd with the misses so she can hear the exhaust (I want one now but I need permission).

Hope she doesn't read this!

Sourob,

I am not sure scumbags are anything new... fact of life me thinks.

Also I guess it is human nature to notice the bad eggs and not all the people who stay in their boxes and behave.

5 people trash MacDonalds in Trafalgar Square during the middle class, sorry, May Day riots and the Daily Mail says anarchy has set in. What about the 60 million people who haven't.( Complete guess at how many people live in th UK.)

Ignore them and keep on scoobing.

Ladies and gentlemen, I don't know how much it would have helped you in the above situations, but I always carry a disposable camera in the glove compartment.

People can shout, but if it's a static situation (someone trashed your car which was clearly on the right side of the road), and you can take photos of it, they might be slightly more hesitant to argue.

??

It does worry me though, that we do seem to have this yob culture now - many places you go it's nothing but grief - on the roads, in the shops etc. Also that scum feel its their right to steal or damage other peoples hard earned property.

Bah.

Kevin, I think if you carefully at Black Cats post you'll see she's more upset at someone sticking their Range Rover in a ditch and causing her a delay. Have you ever tried driving around Ascot during Royal Ascot? Pennis' comments sum up pretty well the general attitude of the idiots that turn up for it.

I think what this post proves is something I've been thinking for a while. The Impreza has become such an icon that anyone driving one is a target for a certain section of the public's jealousy. This manifests itself in the behaviour described in this post.

I have had a few incidents recently when I have overtaken someone quite safely and they have ended up flashing lights, sounding horn etc. I have also had some guy in a Sierra (yuck) brake test me and then gesticulate at me for (as far as I am concerned) no reason whatsoever.

I never get any of this when I am out in my Elise - which is what leads me to believe that it is related to the Scooby.

Oh well I guess we'll just have to grin and bear it - at the end of the day at least I'm not sitting all day in a Sierra.

Regards,

tiggers.

Black Cat - ignore the complaints above - you are spot on with your comments.

I have had more physical abuse than verbal. Not on me but my car.
I have been hit twice on the front bumper, only paint damage. The first time in a public carpark when I wasnt there. The second time in the work carpark sometime when i was still working. This time I know the reg of the car that hit me, not the person. I left a polite note on their windscreen to contact me. As of yet no reply. As i had damage on the bumper already i dont suppose i can claim off their insurance.
Its so damn rude especially when even a collegue doesnt admit to it.

Hi all,

Its really down to the car we drive. Sometimes you've got to grin and bear it.
Last month had the the top side of the wing dented, by some s***. I wasn't there so I could do nothing about it, except fork out unnecessary repair money.
I'm not a violent person, but if push comes to shove, I'll scrap with any one. I know its not the way, but why should I be pushed around because of a car. I know most of you have families to think about, that I can understand.
I suppose I'm young, stupid and hot headed.

Not a violent person (honest)!
